As the semester kicks off at UT Austin, thousands of students return with big dreams and quiet worries. For our Muslim students, Nueces Mosque is where it all feels a little more possible. It’s the place they come to exhale after exams, share a meal that feels like home, and recharge their soul and body.
*But this year carries a weight unlike before for Nueces.*
We are embarking on a historic journey to rebuild Nueces Mosque. To begin the Masjid construction by year-end, we must raise $1.5M by the end of this year, Insha'Allah.

🏗 *Pre-Construction Planning*
* A dedicated Development Manager is now working closely with our General Contractor on the detailed pre-construction plan.
* Demolition Planning: Goal to secure the demolition permit by December 31, Insha-ALLAH.
* Alternate Location: Identifying a suitable nearby space to serve as a temporary prayer and program facility. Targeting to finalize the lease by the end of October and begin moving in November.
⚙ *Value Engineering*
* The Development Manager and Design Team are working with the GC to evaluate design and material options to achieve cost savings while maintaining quality.
* The goal is to establish the final Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) and overall project cost by the end of October.
🏦 *Islamic Loan*
* The due diligence process with our Islamic bank has formally begun.
* The goal is to finalize the loan term sheet by late October or early November. This is an essential step before securing the demolition permit and breaking ground in January 2026, Insha-ALLAH.
💰 *Capital Development*
* On July 30, Imams and Board members of Austin’s Islamic Centers gathered to affirm their support for this project and commit to ensuring a successful start.
* Alhamdulillah, 75% of the funds required to initiate construction have already been secured.
* If you have pledged towards the project, please fulfill your pledges by October 31, 2025.
