This World Environment Day, we want to proclaim that sustainability starts at home. Especially the home you’re already in.

The most affordable home is often the one a family already has. And when we repair existing homes, we do more than protect housing stability, we reduce waste, preserve materials, and make better use of the resources already invested in our Central Texas neighborhoods.

At RTASA, home repair is environmental work, housing work, and community work. By helping homeowners stay safely in place, we support stronger families, more stable neighborhoods, and a healthier environment.

Repairing homes protects people. Preserving homes protects the environment.

Thanks to the generous support of USAA, Rebuilding Together Austin San Antonio helped an 82-year-old Veteran in San Antonio remain safely in the home he loves.

Living on a fixed income, this homeowner faced significant exterior repairs, including a failing roof and rotting, missing siding that left the home vulnerable to the elements. Through this project, RTASA replaced the roof, repaired and replaced damaged siding, and painted the home's exterior—restoring both protection and pride of place.

These repairs support two of the Seven Principles of Healthy Housing: Keep It Dry and Keep It Maintained, helping prevent water intrusion and preserving the home's long-term safety and stability.

Because every Veteran deserves a safe and healthy place to call home.

As the HOT summer season approaches, it reminds us of the importance of safe, stable homes.
We’re proud to reflect on the incredible impact we’ve made together so far this year through critical home repairs and community partnerships.
Because of the generosity and collaboration of public support from City of Austin, City of San Antonio and organizations like Texas Veterans Commission, Methodist Healthcare Ministries, Champion Home Services, Wells Fargo, Broadway Bank, Valero, USAA, TSAHC, Evolve, Vela Wood, Swinerton Builders, Home Depot and Lowe’s, more families in our community are living in homes that are safer, healthier, and better prepared for the Texas heat.
Every repaired roof, accessible ramp, HVAC fix, and weatherization project represents neighbors helping neighbors, and we are deeply grateful for every volunteer, donor, and partner who makes this work possible.
Together, we’re strengthening communities and rebuilding lives. 🏡💚

May is Older Americans Month! Now is the time to celebrate the older adults who have shaped our families, neighborhoods, and communities.
We believe everyone deserves to age safely and with dignity in the place they call home. Our work helps preserve affordable homeownership through critical home repairs, accessibility modifications, and community-based housing solutions for older adults and income-qualified homeowners across Austin and San Antonio.
From fall-prevention improvements to health and safety repairs, we help older adults remain independent, connected, and secure at home.
