Heller Awards for Young Artists Celebrating excellence in high school musical theatre in the Greater Austin area at the Bass Concert Hall, all year long. Formerly known as GAHSMTA.

During the academic year, participating high school productions in the Austin area will vie for a coveted award presented in a Tony Awards-style ceremony to be held April 13, 2016 at the Long Center. Along with our partners the University of Texas Department of Theatre & Dance and ZACH Theatre, as we recognize tomorrow’s stars of the stage—and pay tribute to the value and talent of musical theatre and arts education in our community.

London and Isaiah will represent the Heller Awards for Young Artists in New York City, joining top high school musical theatre performers from across the country for ten days of coaching, rehearsals, and training with Broadway professionals.

The Jimmy Awards, also known as the National High School Musical Theatre Awards, celebrate the best of high school musical theatre nationwide. This year, 116 nominees from 58 regional programs will make their Broadway stage debuts at the Minskoff Theatre on Monday, June 22 at 7:30 PM.

We could not be prouder of London and Isaiah as they take this incredible next step. Austin will be cheering you on all the way to Broadway! 🏆🎭✨

✨ Celebrating our 2026 Heller Awards Scholarship Winners! ✨

This year, the Heller Awards awarded more than $10,000 in training scholarships, helping students continue growing, learning, and taking the next step in their artistic journey.

Scholarships matter. They open doors. They remove barriers. They remind young artists that their talent is worth investing in — and that this community believes in their future.

A huge thank you to our incredible training scholarship partners: Adam Roberts Voice, The Adderley School, Balance Dance Studios, The Dance Spot, The Broadway Teachers Workshop, Impact Arts’ Texas Arts Project, and Impact Arts College Audition Program for helping create opportunities for these students to keep training and dreaming bigger.

And for the first time in many years, ten of our individual award winners also received cash scholarships. Thanks to the generosity of the Cipione Family Foundation, our Lead, Supporting, and Featured category winners, Student Achievement winners, and Company Spirit Award recipient will each receive $2,500 to further their education.

Congratulations to all of our scholarship recipients — we cannot wait to see where your talent takes you next. 🌟🎭🏆

We’re kicking off the 2026 Heller Awards for Young Artists in true red carpet style with CBS Austin’s We Are Austin host Trevor Scott, broadcasting LIVE from the red carpet on Wednesday, May 6 from 6:00–6:30 PM!

Trevor will be interviewing students, celebrating this year’s nominees, and helping us announce our 2026 scholarship award winners before the big show begins.
