🎉 MILESTONE ANNOUNCEMENT! 🎉
The Nova Dawn Foundation, founded earlier this year, is thrilled to announce we've officially opened our account by making our first contribution toward our 2025 goals!

We are proud to support the incredible work of the SHSG Charitable Trust (https://shsg.co.in/) in Mohali. SHSG leads multiple life-changing initiatives, from treating spinal cord injury patients and providing Punjab flood relief, to distributing cows to needy widows and building homes.

Our initial contribution is a much-needed drop in the bucket for their monthly food expenses at the Mohali center.

In our endeavor to make a meaningful difference in the world, we can't do it alone. We deeply appreciate your support in helping us grow this impact!

Life can take unexpected turns. Mata Kamla Devi lost her husband 12 years ago. Once owners of large tracts of land, the family slowly sold off their property due to illness and hardship. Over the past decade, four of her close relatives took much of her remaining money. They have since passed away. More recently, a distant nephew accompanied her to the bank and withdrew her pension—leaving her with almost nothing.

Now elderly and unable to walk, Mata Kamla Devi lives in difficult conditions. She uses a bucket near her bed, which has led to an unpleasant environment. A few kind villagers occasionally bring her food and tea. For the past three days, they have been requesting the local SHSG center in Madanheri to help. After completing legal formalities with the local police, the SHSG team will transfer her to their center where she can receive proper care.

This is a call for compassion, community responsibility, and the importance of caring for the elderly and vulnerable. What we give to others in their time of need reflects the values we want to see in the world—and one day, we may depend on the same kindness ourselves. After losing the family’s sole breadwinner - husband and father - to a devastating neurological injury in a tragic road accident in December 2024, left behind were a grieving widow, her elderly mother-in-law, and two children—a daughter in 11th grade and a son in 6th. This family faced not only emotional devastation but complete financial ruin as they desperately tried to save the father. Left homeless and broken, they were shattered.

With the support of SAF International, SHSG transformed their barren plot into a two-bedroom home, restoring stability and hope. Their tears turned into prayers of gratitude for the compassionate souls who made it possible. No contribution is too small—every act of kindness can change a life. Farm fires in Punjab, India have devastated small and marginalized farmers—many of whom rent just an acre of land to grow wheat or vegetables. Their entire season’s work is lost in a single blaze. After visiting the affected areas, the SHSG ground team provided emergency support of INR 5,500 to INR 15,000 to more than 10 farming families. This help brought relief—but the need is much greater.

According to India’s National Crime Records Bureau, over 11,000 farmers and agricultural laborers died by su***de in 2022. Many were overwhelmed by crop loss, debt, and lack of support. With your help, SHSG can continue this urgent work.

Please consider donating or sharing this message. Every contribution helps reach more farmers in need. U.S.-based donors can make tax-deductible donations through Nova Dawn Foundation (501(c)(3)) via Zelle to [email protected].

Every Tuesday morning, the SHSG ground team sets up a humble yet heartfelt langar outside PGI Emergency in Chandigarh. For a couple of hours, they serve free tea, biscuits, bread, rusk, and basic medicines to patients’ families—many of whom have traveled far and are waiting anxiously outside the hospital. In a moment of struggle, a warm cup of tea and a few kind words can bring unexpected comfort.

This quiet act of care is made possible by the continued generosity of donors like you. Let’s continue to be a light during life’s darkest hours. Help SHSG sustain this meaningful work—by spreading the word or contributing directly.

For supporters in the U.S., tax-deductible donations can be made through Nova Dawn Foundation (a registered 501(c)(3)), via Zelle to [email protected].

Three years ago, Shiraza—a 30-year-old woman suffering from a severe, deep bedsore on her hip—arrived at SHSG Care Center. After two failed surgeries and being turned away by leading hospitals in the valley, she came to the SHSG care center as a last resort. Here, she received not only meticulous medical attention, but also boundless compassion and unwavering care—without being charged a single penny.

What followed was nothing short of a miracle. With time, patience, and love, Shiraza healed and returned home. Her recovery was not solely the result of medicine, but also the power of selfless service and the belief in healing shared between caregivers and patient. Stories like Shiraza’s are not rare at SHSG. This mission of hope is made possible by the generosity of those who believe in it.

We invite you to help SHSG continue this sacred work—by spreading awareness, and if you're able, by donating. Contributions in the US can be sent via Zelle to [email protected]. As a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, your donation is tax-deductible.

Gursharan Singh, a 16-year-old, suffered a severe spinal cord injury just a month ago and currently has no sensation below the chest. Initially referred to PGI by a government hospital in Amritsar, the family was unfortunately misled by doctors who encouraged them to pursue costly surgery at a private hospital—likely motivated by commission incentives. Unable to afford the high operation costs, Gursharan’s family borrowed money from local lenders and is now burdened with huge debt. This week, the SHSG Care Center team will transport Gursharan to receive proper care at their Mohali center, accompanied by his mother.

Sadly, families with limited access to information often fall prey to such financial exploitation. We urge you to help SHSG continue its vital work by spreading awareness—and if you’re able, by donating. Contributions can be sent via Zelle to [email protected]. As a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, your donation is tax-deductible.
