George has been busy meeting with and calling a number of our local and distant charities and the news is dismal. The clients needing services are increasing everywhere. With benefits being cut to government programs and the price of everything soaring this is becoming a real crisis.Stipends to get people housed or keep them housed are cut, SNAP program to let people shop for food cut and people thrown off unexpectedly due to new regulaitons to punish them for being poor.
We committed to handing out substantialy more funds this year and we will. It seems like a drop in the bucket. The industries that are profiting are not donating to shore up the cuts.

Last night we took a short trip out to the Hearts Therapudic riding center in Leander, TX to support the center and enjoy a bit of country and of course horses. George is going to write something much more eloquent but I just enjoyed putting my boots up on a hay bale after a long day and sipping on a glass of champagne.

Dear friends and partners of the G&D Charity, an invitation.

Dianne and I believe that great classical music should be available to all people not just the rich. Accordingly, we are a sponsor of the Bluebonnet Symphony Orchestra concert in Cedar Park on Sunday May 17 . This concert is totally free to all who wish to come. This is an opportunity for families to come and bring their children to introduce them to the experience of a Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra.
The members of this Orchestra are very approachable and if you have a child who may be interested in playing a specific musical instrument like the violin for example, we may possibly(not guaranteed but likely) be able to introduce you to for example Dave, the violin concert master of the Orchestra for a brief chat at intermission - Or some of the other musicians.
If you do decide to come, you will be able to sit in the first 2 Rows Center front where we will be. (not absolutely guaranteed because I don’t know how many of you are coming - probably - if not very close) (get there early and stake out a claim on the seat you want) this way you will be able to actually see the musicians playing the musical instruments.

The concert starts at 3 PM, but the doors open at 2:15 but if you come early, there will be time for visiting and enjoying entertainment in the lobby. When you come, as I have said, head on down to the first two rows, that is where we will all be.

Bring somebody you love, or if you don’t love anybody bring somebody you don’t love and by the end of the concert maybe you will love them. Feel free to forward this to anyone you would like to, the more the merrier, it is a big auditorium so there should be room for all.

There is open seating at this concert so everybody can sit where they want, so when you check in, don’t expect a seat number, but do head down to the front as previously indicated.

The drive is long but so worth it to reconnect with so many freinds and leaders that support the Sunrise Homeless Navigation Center during the Sunrise Shindig at Pecan Springs Ranch. From the swag bag to the chip bar to the silent auction to the paddles up leading up to some real world words on what they are accomplishing. So many being housed. Comprehensive services that do not make a person hunt up another place to go. We are proud to support them in their mission.

George and I went to this event yesterday evening. It was their initial dinner for mixing the community with some of their unhoused neighbors. The cooks were awesome serving of hot meatball sandwiches, street medics were there to explain what they do. There was music and dancing in all it was a beautiful set up. It was very much under attended but first offerings usually are. We are looking forward to the next time and supporting this organization.
