Utsav Lal has a special message for Austin as we get ready to welcome him back to the stage on August 22.

Known for bringing the beauty of Indian classical ragas to the piano, Utsav creates a sound that feels both deeply rooted and completely his own. He’ll be joined by Pt. Gourisankar on tabla for Concert II of the evening.

A rare opportunity for Bharatanatyam students in Austin

ICMCA is honored to present an exclusive Bharatanatyam Masterclass with acclaimed dancer and teacher Vidhya Subramanian, alongside her senior disciple Sharanyaa Ganesan.

Designed for both intermediate and advanced students, this three-hour intensive offers dancers the chance to deepen their technique, musicality, movement, and artistic expression in an intimate learning environment.

🎶 Intermediate Masterclass:
Led by Sharanyaa Ganesan
For pre-arangetram students
A nritta-based piece will be taught

🎶 Advanced Masterclass:
Led by Vidhya Subramanian
For post-arangetram and advanced dancers
An exploration of nritta or abhinaya, with focus on musicality, laya, choreography, intention, and the body’s response to movement.

On August 22, Saraswathi Ranganathan brings the beautiful sound of the veena to the ICMCA stage, joined by Ganapathi Ranganathan on mridangam.

Saraswathi’s music is rooted in Carnatic tradition, but her work has also taken her across genres, cultures, and stages around the world. We’re so excited for Austin audiences to experience her artistry live.

Artist Highlight: Utsav Lal

Known internationally as the “Raga Pianist,” Utsav Lal is redefining what Hindustani classical music can sound like on the piano.

Rooted in deep raga tradition and shaped by Dhrupad, jazz, and contemporary improvisation, his music is immersive, fearless, and deeply expressive. Each performance feels both timeless and entirely new, drawing listeners into a space that is meditative, expansive, and alive.
