ASCE Austin is excited to host Allyson Richey P.E. and Lance Ballard P.E. with Kimley-Horn. The presentation is titled “Austin Mobility Management Center.”

Ever wonder how the city manages events like ACL, SXSW, and Austin FC? Ever wonder how all the traffic signals in the city operate? Well now’s your chance to know! 🚦

The Mobility Management Center (MMC) operates the City of Austin’s arterial street network and Kimley-Horn is responsible for the complete staffing of the MMC during weekdays, weekends, and special events. The Kimley-Horn team oversees the operations of approximately 1,100 traffic signals using the City’s ATMS, traffic cameras, and dynamic message signs (DMS). The MMC serves as a data visualization and analysis hub for the Austin Transportation Department and specializes in turning big data into usable insight. The MMC uses signal performance measures (SPMs) and crowd-sourced data to identify issues and trends in the City’s transportation network to which the then recommend and implement countermeasures and solutions.

🚧 Robust federal investment sparks private‑sector capital. 💡 By de‑risking projects, federal dollars attract innovation, efficiency & expanded capacity.

This isn’t theory—it’s proven. Financing tools multiply returns and extend benefits to more communities.

Public + private together = smarter, faster, stronger infrastructure.
