🌟 Meet APRO Scholarship Star Caley Snyder of Dunnellon, Florida!

Caley is finishing high school while already earning college credits and plans to attend the College of Central Florida next spring. Active in National Honor Society, HOSA-Future Health Professionals, volunteer service, and dance, she hopes to pursue a career in radiology specializing in ultrasound.

Caley also grew up around the rent-to-own industry. Her father, Kyle Parman, President of Corporate Stores for RNR Tire Express, has spent 28 years in RTO. That connection has given Caley a firsthand perspective on how rental-purchase can help families access needed products while reinforcing the value of budgeting and understanding financial agreements.

RTO World 2026 left a meaningful impact in West Palm Beach. 💙

In this video, Gary Graham, Housing Supervisor at Vita Nova, and APRO CEO Charles Smitherman share how the rent-to-own community came together to support local youth and young adults through the RTO World Gives Back effort.

Following the conference, 12 exhibitors donated more than $81,000 in furniture, mattresses, appliances, and home goods benefiting Vita Nova and Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County. Vita Nova helps young adults ages 18 to 25 transition from homelessness or foster care to stable, independent living, while Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County provides safe spaces and programs for local children and teens.

A convincing phishing email cost an APRO member, Dial Rent-to-Own, $9,600 after an employee unknowingly entered her credentials into what looked like a legitimate Microsoft Office 365 message.

In the first installment of APRO’s "Cyber Scares: Real Stories from Rent-to-Own" series for Cybersecurity Awareness Month, Dial Rent-to-Own CEO Daniel Singh shares how the attack unfolded, how the fraudster used compromised credentials to redirect a payment, and the warning signs his team recognized afterward.

The story also highlights practical cybersecurity lessons for rent-to-own businesses, including verifying unusual payment requests through another channel, checking sender details carefully, reporting suspicious activity internally, and using multifactor authentication.

A longtime APRO Board Member and former Board President, Shannon is Co-Owner of Baber Strunk Enterprises, including 17 RNR Tire Express locations across the Southeast. His industry leadership also includes helping establish the APRO Scholarship Fund and, following Hurricane Katrina, the APRO RTO Employee Disaster Relief Fund.

For Shannon, serving the rent-to-own industry means advocating for the people behind it – customers, employees, business owners, and communities.

The 2026 Midwest RTO Training Expo set a new attendance record, bringing nearly 230 rental dealers and industry vendors together at Belterra Casino Resort in Florence, Indiana.

Sponsored by the Ohio Rental Dealers Association (ORDA), the two-day event combined RTO education, vendor presentations, a busy tradeshow, and plenty of opportunities to connect with fellow rental-purchase professionals.

Education sessions tackled leadership, consistency, and growth, and best practices for renting more, while industry vendors shared product knowledge and training with attendees.

For longtime rent-to-own leader Lyn Leach, the answer is creating an in-store experience that gives people a reason to show up.

He points to events such as Fiesta Sábado, where a food truck, tacos, and a packed store turn an ordinary Saturday into something closer to a community gathering. The goal is bigger than bringing people through the doors to make a transaction. It is creating an experience people genuinely want to be part of.

Jinkies – one lucky Aaron’s customer is driving away with a new set of wheels! 🚐

APRO member Aaron’s, LLC recently named Pennsylvania customer John Souders the winner of its Drive Into Summer Sweepstakes, randomly selected from more than 400,000 entries. His prize included a Toyota Sienna XLE Hybrid minivan and $5,000 cash.

The win came at just the right time for Souders, whose previous minivan had developed serious mechanical problems. A longtime Scooby-Doo fan, he now plans to turn his new ride into a Mystery Machine lookalike while continuing his DoorDash work and volunteer visits to local elder-care facilities.
