ThunderCloud Subs Turkey Trot The ThunderCloud Subs Turkey Trot is a Thanksgiving tradition; proceeds benefit Caritas of Austin. The 2022 event will be held in person & virtually.

Started in 1990, the ThunderCloud Subs Turkey Trot includes a five-mile run, one-mile walk, and the Stepping Stone School Kids’ K that generally takes place at the Long Center for the Performing Arts in Austin, TX on Thanksgiving Day. The ThunderCloud Subs Turkey Trot is the largest five-mile run in Texas, and more than 21,000 participants are expected to participate in this year’s event. Since 1990, nearly $4.5 million has gone to Caritas of Austin.

Our Story

Started in 1991, the ThunderCloud Subs Turkey Trot includes a five-mile run, one-mile walk, and a Stepping Stone School Kids K that all take place at the Long Center for the Performing Arts in Austin, Texas on Thanksgiving Day every year.

One hundred percent of the proceeds from the ThunderCloud Subs Turkey Trot benefit Caritas of Austin, a nonprofit organization dedicated to preventing and ending homelessness for people in Greater Austin. Over the past 28 years, the Trot has raised nearly $3.8 million for Caritas of Austin.

The ThunderCloud Subs Turkey Trot is the largest five-mile run in Texas, and the second largest Turkey Trot in the state. More than 20,000 people from 48 states participate in this beloved Thanksgiving Day tradition each year, which is made possible with the help of our generous sponsors, 600-plus volunteers, and our dedicated . The Trot also features live music, post-run snacks, children’s activities, raffle and runner prizes, fundraising opportunities for Caritas of Austin, and more.
