"At 2:38 am a woman screaming for help called 911 saying she was being stabbed. Officers arrived on the scene at 2:49 am and noted the a suspect was inside the home with two injured victims. Officers entered the home at about 3 am but retreated after a person inside shot at them. SWAT officers were called for backup and arrived to the scene about an hour later and forced themselves into the home around 4:11 am. Officer Jorge Pastore was shot and killed soon after and another member of the Austin Police Department's SWAT team was critically injured. In addition to Jorge, the assailant and two of his victims died, while one woman escaped after suffering multiple stabbing wounds."
First of all, our condolences to the families of Officer Jorge Pastore who was identified as the SWAT officer who was killed. And many thanks to the other SWAT officer who was injured and all the amazing people who work for the Austin Police Department.
Now for the hard questions. The City Council defunded the Police by 30% a few years ago and Soros-funded District Attorney Jose Garza has worked to undermine law enforcement by refusing to prosecute certain criminals. So...
- Where are all the social workers that the City Council was supposed to hire as part of Defund the Police to defuse domestic violence situations like this?
- Why hasn't the City Council and DA apologized for the increase in homicides from an average of about 30 per year in Austin to 88 in 2021?
- Why don't more Blacks and Hispanics demand accountability of the City Council and the DA considering they are the majority of the victims of Defund the Police?
- Where are all the White Professors and rich White college students who pushed for Defund the Police now that it's clear poor people, Blacks and Hispanics are dying as a result?
The shooting Saturday morning marks the first time in more than a decade that an Austin police officer has been killed in an on-duty shooting.
