The 14 acre farm property in Pader continues to be a resource for the community to tap into sustainable economic practices. While some productions at the farm are slowing, others are growing. And, while the potential for successes from the farm grow, the hearts of the community are being transformed, socially and spiritually in a manner that will encourage the use of resources (like those at the farm) to selflessly serve Pader, surrounding districts, and indirectly: the world (just like Jesus was born into our world to be with us).
Our most recent missional team just returned home to Austin, Texas last week and we have reports of what is happening in Pader. Livestock production at the farm is slowing as the goats are not seeing a profit. Produce production is growing. While having access to the best irrigation infrastructure in the community, produce is seeing a profit. Onions, typically out of season, are in season with irrigation at the farm and are being sold for profit. The next application for produce will be implementing 300+ banana plants on a 40x80 meter plot. Then, the farm looks to passion-fruit and grafted oranges as economic resources for the community of Pader, Uganda.
Our team is possibly even more excited to share our stories from outside of the farm property. We were blessed to have the opportunity to be a part of many beautiful stories being told by Pader Community Church. PCC, being a beacon of God's love to the region, invited our team to participate in many events advancing The Great Commission as instructed by Jesus Christ to His disciples. Commissioning the first Community Children's Library, Organizing the first district football tournament (which resulted in 1000 youth visiting the church campus), visiting newly planted churches in neighboring communities, praying over church members' homesteads, hospitals, and businesses, our team is confident in reporting that hearts are changing in the Northern Ugandan district of Pader. What is happening in Pader is guaranteed to result in good, good that will result in sustainability and love.
Our team wants to express thanks to all of the friends, family and organizations that supported our eight days in Pader. We could not have done all we did without your prayers. And, we include a specific, special thanks to Pastor Brian Schneider who is practicing God's love in a powerful way in Pader, Uganda. We cannot wait to see what is next.
Affoyo matek.
Thank you very much.
