THANK YOU, Katherine!

As summer comes to a close, it's time to say goodbye to our intern, Katherine!

Katherine first fell in love with environmental education through her own trips to the Nature Center during her childhood in Austin. After completing a bachelor's degree at University of Minnesota-Duluth, she returned to the Nature Center for a year-long internship.

Her favorite parts have been working with the animals, teaching (specifically maple syruping!), and spending more time outside. Her favorite memory is celebrating Cedar's first "Hatchday" this past February.

We're all excited for Katherine as she enters her next chapter as an Environmental Education fellow at Eagle Bluff. Good luck!

Enjoy a beautiful trail run through prairies, forests, and wetlands while supporting the Friends of the Hormel Nature Center at the 3rd Annual 8K Race September 20, 2025.

Cost: 8K: $30, 1 Mile Fun Run: $5

All proceeds go to the Friends of the Hormel Nature Center that support projects and programs of greatest need.

The Jay C. Hormel Nature Center acquired the observatory in the 1990s from the city of Austin.
