Congratulations to Rebecca Micenheimer, Site Coordinator of the month for Texas!

Rebecca’s students know her as “Ms. M”, and honestly, the “M” might as well stand for Miracle Maker. The staff on her campus adore her, students can’t wait for their 1:1 time with her, and parents truly appreciate the heart she pours into their children. We are grateful for all the moments Ms. M thinks ahead and remembers the things that often get lost in the busyness of the day. Rebecca is known for her passion and her unwavering advocacy for kids. CIS is incredibly lucky to have her as part of the meaningful work we strive to do every day.

Way to go Rebecca! Communities In Schools of the Dallas Region Whataburger

Congratulations to Ruvi Saenz, Site Coordinator of the month for Texas! Ms. Ruvi Saenz is the most humble and passionate person and has this magnetic personality that attracts the most challenging students. Her daily drive of energy has the potential to move mountains with the students she serves.

Ms. Saenz does so much to impact her students. Her Faithful Friday's groups aim to improve grades, attendance, and behavior through the implementation of hands-on activities and presentations. Game Club groups engage students in different games to enhance the improvement of social and communication skills. She worked to receive 165 backpacks donated to the students and works weekly with the students to assist them in supporting positive behavior by understanding their unique needs and implementing effective strategies tailored to their individual challenges. Ms. Ruvi goes far and beyond the call of duty to assist all students at her campus and we are grateful for her dedicated efforts.

Thank you, Ruvi, for all you do every day! Whataburger Communities in Schools of El Paso

Congratulations to Cedric King, Texas Site Coordinator of the Month for December!

Cedric is deeply impactful on his campus. He consistently meets students where they are and shows up for them in meaningful ways. Students recognize his commitment, which builds trust and creates the strong connections needed to support and guide them through everyday challenges. He was also designated as Teacher of the Week on his campus earlier this year.

LaPorte ISD is a district In Schools of Southeast Harris and Brazoria County is growing into, and site coordinators like Cedric are the reason this expansion is successful. His dedication has made the CIS presence highly beneficial for both his campus and the district, ensuring that students, staff, and families feel the positive impact of our program. Thank you, Cedric, for making a tremendous difference on your campus and beyond daily!

Congratulations to Lionel, Communities in Schools - South Plains student for being selected as the Texas Student Success of the Month! Lionel first entered the CIS program in Pre-K. He was struggling and had to be out of the class quite a bit. School continued to be difficult for him, and it was decided that he would be un-enrolled and try again in the next school year.

This year, things are going much better for Lionel! He has shown a total change compared to last year. He loves school and loves being at Bennett. He asks all the time if he was missed while he was gone, and he is trying so hard to do his best. We are all so proud of Lionel!

Great job, Lionel! Keep up the great work.” Whataburger

Congratulations to Melissa Waggoner, Texas Site Coordinator of the Month for December!

Melissa is a leader on the Communities In Schools of South Central Texas team and has been the site coordinator at Rebecca Creek Elementary for 6 years. She is the person her peers turn to for advice and help, and the first person called to mentor new site coordinators. Melissa is knowledgeable and dependable and has made a tremendous impact on her campus. Resources are few in her community, but Melissa goes above and beyond by creating partnerships to better support her students. The campus initiatives she created to improve attendance are unique and creative and have led to great improvement on her campus.

Melissa has many success stories but one that sticks out is a student that had transitioned into her school late in the year after several years of not attending public school. The student had also experienced significant trauma, abuse and neglect during this time and was withdrawn and scared to come to school. Beginning on the student's first day, Melissa met with her daily to help ease the transition and build confidence and self-esteem. She became the CIS "assistant" when things got overwhelming. Melissa worked with a team of people on campus to ensure the student felt supported, and gradually she blossomed developing relationships with peers and adults and improving her academic engagement.
Thank you, Melissa, for all you do each day!

Congratulations to Margie Solorzano, Texas Site Coordinator of the Month for November! "Ms. Solorzano is a field coordinator at Communities in Schools of El Paso which means she steps in to cover an extended leave of absence of a Site Coordinator. Ms. Solorzano started at a campus on the first day of school and was there the first nine weeks. She made it a point to bring everyone's anxiety level down by providing a CIS Orientation to both the campus staff and students. Everyone understood that she was there to help.

The campus' goal is to improve attendance. There were students from last year who were already starting to struggle with attendance. She quickly sprang into action and met with them and their parents to ensure their daily attendance. She would meet the students every morning, call the parents if they were not present, and even make home visits when there was no answer. Both students and parents quickly realized that she was not going to give up on them.

Students would tell her, "Ms. S, you are everywhere”. They would see her before school, during lunch, throughout the day, in the CIS Office, in the front office, after school, in the community; she was everywhere!

She also offered homework assistance before school to any students that would need it and assisted the campus with their parent engagement efforts to sign up students and families for the holiday events in December. Students gravitated towards her because she would help them with anything from a simple school supply to wanting to talk about how things were going with school and friends.
Ms. Solorzano is so humble that she started to prepare everyone for her departure and told the students to show the new Site Coordinator all they had been working on and to continue excelling in her absence. She is a true team player with great passion for helping students. Great job, Margie! Whataburger

Congratulations to Tamia Randall, Texas Site Coordinator of the Month for November! It is never easy starting a new position. Shadowing, training, building relationships and getting to know your campus at the same time can be overwhelming. Tamia Randall has made all these things look easy. She started this school year as a new site coordinator with Communities In Schools of East Texas, and she hit the ground running. From a back-to-school bash, meet the teacher, shadowing and then securing the largest and most unique donation that the team has seen. Tamia was able to get four full size refrigerators donated to Communities in Schools East Texas. One went to her campus pantry, two for families in need and the last one went to another CIS campus pantry. We appreciate your dedication and commitment to CIS and more so the students and families of your campus.
Way to go, Tamia! You are making a difference. Whataburger
