We are delighted to announce that Radio Krajan has joined forces with Czech & Slovak Community of Austin and has become part of our journey. 🎙️❤️

A very special thank you goes to Henry Destiny, who currently leads Radio Krajan Chicago,for his support, energy, and passion for connecting Czech and Slovak communities across the United States. 🇨🇿🇸🇰🤝🇺🇸

One of the first steps in our collaboration is a wonderful feature about the Czech & Slovak Ball in Austin — looking back at our inaugural 2026 Ball and giving a glimpse of what we are preparing for 2027. 💃🕺✨

Through this collaboration, we are excited to connect Austin and Texas even more closely with Czechs and Slovaks across the United States while sharing our culture, traditions, community life, education, and business networking.

🇨🇿🇸🇰 Looking back at the first Czech & Slovak Ball in Austin! 💃🕺

The inaugural edition of our ball was filled with the incredible music of Harafica – a renowned cimbalom ensemble from Uherské Hradiště, Czech Republic, known for beautifully blending Moravian folk traditions with a fresh, modern, and energetic sound. 🎻🎶

Their performance brought a wonderful piece of Moravia and Czech & Slovak culture to Austin, creating an unforgettable atmosphere and filling the dance floor. ❤️

A huge thank you to Harafica for being part of the very first Czech & Slovak Ball in Austin and helping us create an evening we will remember for a long time. 🇨🇿🇸🇰🇺🇸

An unforgettable night filled with amazing people, incredible atmosphere, music, dancing, and memories that will stay with us for a long time. Thank you to everyone who made this event so special. ❤️

And now… we’re already preparing the next edition for next year — and trust us, you have a lot to look forward to! 👀
If the first year was a ride, the next one will be on a whole different level — bigger, more elegant, more exciting, and even more unforgettable. 🚀✨

🌲🔥 Another amazing Camping gathering of the Czech & Slovak community in Texas has come to an end! 🔥🌲

A huge thank you to everyone who joined and helped create such a wonderful atmosphere full of friendship, laughter, and great memories. 🇨🇿🇸🇰❤️

We enjoyed great food, campfires, games for kids and adults, and most importantly, quality time with people who keep our Czech & Slovak community alive here in Texas. 🤠⛺

It was wonderful to see so many families and friends together, sharing experiences and creating new memories.

Thank you all for the amazing energy, and we already look forward to the next gathering! ❤️

🌸🇨🇿 Sharing an update from the Czech Heritage Society of Texas - Bexar County🇸🇰🌸

They’ve had a very busy spring! 💙❤️

They attended the inaugural Czech-Slovak Ball in Austin, full of great music, tradition, and meaningful connections. There was also a screening of the award-winning film Waves, which was a powerful cultural experience. 🎬

Another highlight was the Spring Festival in Garden Ridge – with live music, dancing, and amazing food 🍲 (the goulash was a big hit!).

They also welcomed an official delegation from the Czech Republic, highlighting the strong and growing ties between the Czech Republic and Texas. 🤝

The chapter took part in the Silk Road Festival and is now getting ready for Fiesta’s Battle of Flowers Parade 🌺

It’s wonderful to see Czech and Slovak traditions thriving so far from home ❤️

Yesterday’s “Witches Night” (Čarodějnice) event in Austin was a great success! 🔥
Thank you all for coming and creating such a wonderful atmosphere.

There were plenty of treats and fun competitions – including sack races and a kolache eating contest. The winners took home a lovely prize: Pavlova Czech Cookbook.

We played guitar, sang Czech songs by the fire, and most importantly, we burned the witch together, just as tradition says.

A big thank you to Live Oak Brewing Company for the amazing venue!

🔥 Why do we burn witches? It’s more than just a bonfire! 🍢🧹

Ever wondered why this tradition still lives on today? Here’s the magic behind it:

✨ Out with the Old: Fire has always symbolized purification. By “burning the witch,” we symbolically drive away winter and all the negative energy from the past. It’s a fresh start!

🌱 Welcoming Spring: This custom comes from ancient celebrations like Walpurgis Night and the Celtic Beltane, marking the beginning of the light half of the year. People celebrated fertility, nature’s awakening, and protection for their crops.

🤝 Community Spirit: It’s one of those moments when people gather around a single fire. No phones—just the crackle of wood, roasted treats, and good company.

When you look into the flames, you’re part of a tradition that’s hundreds of years old. 🔥
