As the school year has wound down the McCallum band is still hard at work preparing for the performance at Carnegie Hall in just a few short weeks! And following that just a little more than a month later band and guard members will be getting to work on our 2026 show, Crownless!

Opportunities for growth in performance, leadership and teamwork take work and dedication from the participants and directors but also needs community support!

Happy Graduation Day 2026 to our outstanding Mac Band seniors! This group led a historic year for the band - from UIL state marching band finals in the fall to performing at Carnegie Hall this summer! Thank you for all of your strong effort, dedication and hard work these past four years. We are excited to see what’s next for all of you! Mac Band Proud!

Congratulations to all of the Mac Band students who advanced to Texas State Solo and Ensemble Contest! We had 28 total medalists at the event. Congratulations to these students!

Happy Carol Nelson Day! Austin City Council designated May 23 as Carol Nelson Day to celebrate Ms. Nelson’s extraordinary contributions to music education, her immeasurable impact on thousands of students, and her legacy as one of the longest serving and most influential band directors in Texas! Thank you Ms. Nelson for all of your years of service to McCallum High School. Go Mac Band!

We are launching a new fundraiser just in time for summer and fall trip planning! We have a Hotel Raffle with a choice of two hotel stays: 2 nights at the Canopy Hotel Austin plus cheese tasting at Antonelli’s or 2 nights at the Hyatt West Loop in Chicago.
