Breast cancer can affect anyone, and it does not always cause pain in its early stages. That is why knowing what is normal for your breasts matters.

Pay attention to these changes:

1. A new lump in your breast or armpit. Not every lump is cancerous, but every new or unusual lump should be checked.

2. A change in breast size or shape. Noticeable changes, especially in one breast, deserve medical attention.

3. Skin changes. Look out for dimpling, unusual thickening, redness or skin that resembles the peel of an orange.

4. Changes in your ni**le. A newly inverted ni**le or unusual discharge, especially bloody discharge, should be assessed.

5. Persistent, unusual breast pain. Breast pain is common and is rarely the only sign of cancer, but persistent or localized pain should not be ignored.

Please remember: These changes do not automatically mean you have breast cancer. However, do not wait for pain or other symptoms to become severe before seeking medical advice.

Know your breasts, attend recommended screening appointments and speak with a healthcare professional if you notice anything unusual. You may need an examination or further tests to determine the cause.

Early detection matters. Don't ignore the signs. Don't delay seeking care. 🎀

Are you checking your blood pressure correctly at home? 🩺

A wrong position or an incorrectly placed cuff can give you a misleading reading. Here’s how to do it properly.

1. Prepare your body.
Avoid caffeine, smoking and exercise for at least 30 minutes before checking. Empty your bladder, then sit quietly for 5 minutes.

2. Sit in the right position.
Sit on a chair with your back supported, feet flat on the floor and legs uncrossed. Don’t check while lying awkwardly on a bed or standing.

3. Place the cuff correctly.
Use a validated automatic monitor with an upper-arm cuff that fits you properly. Wrap it around your bare arm, just above the elbow, following the device instructions.

4. Keep your arm at heart level.
Rest your arm on a table with your palm facing upward. Stay still, keep quiet and don’t use your phone while the monitor takes your reading.

5. Take two readings and record them.
Wait one minute between readings. Write down both numbers, the date and time. If monitoring at home, measure at consistent times each day as advised by your healthcare professional.

What do the numbers mean?
The top number is your systolic pressure; the bottom is your diastolic pressure. A reading of 140/90 mmHg or higher is generally considered high in a clinical setting, while home-monitoring thresholds can differ. One reading alone does not confirm a diagnosis.

If your reading is above 180/120 mmHg, wait at least one minute and check again. If it remains that high and you have chest pain, difficulty breathing, weakness, vision changes or difficulty speaking, seek emergency medical care immediately.

Your blood pressure can be high even when you feel perfectly fine. Check it correctly, record your readings and follow up with a healthcare professional.

5 Signs Your Blood Pressure Might Be Climbing Before It Becomes an Emergency 🚨

High blood pressure can be dangerous because it often has no warning signs. You may feel completely fine while your blood pressure is dangerously high.

Here are five things you should know:

1. Frequent headaches Headaches can have many causes. Although they may occur with severely elevated blood pressure, headaches alone are not a reliable way to tell if your blood pressure is high.

2. Blurred vision Sudden or unusual changes in your vision can sometimes occur when blood pressure becomes severely elevated and needs urgent medical attention.

3. Dizziness or lightheadedness Dizziness is not a reliable sign of high blood pressure. However, persistent or sudden dizziness should be assessed, especially when accompanied by other symptoms.

4. Shortness of breath This can indicate a serious problem, particularly when it occurs alongside chest discomfort or other warning signs.

5. Chest pain or pressure Chest pain can signal a medical emergency, including a heart problem. Do not ignore it or assume it is simply high blood pressure

Here's what you must remember.

You cannot reliably tell that your blood pressure is rising by how you feel. The only way to know is to measure it.

Check your blood pressure regularly, even when you feel healthy.

If your blood pressure is above 180/120 mmHg, wait at least one minute and measure it again. If it remains that high and you have chest pain, shortness of breath, weakness, numbness, vision changes or difficulty speaking, seek emergency medical care immediately. Do not wait for the symptoms to pass.

Your health deserves attention before it becomes an emergency. ❤️

2 Breast Health Habits That Can Help Lower Your Risk of Breast Cancer 🎀

Taking care of your breasts isn’t only about checking for lumps. Your everyday choices matter too.

1. Stay physically active.
Regular physical activity can help lower the risk of breast cancer. Aim for consistent movement throughout the week—walking, dancing, exercising or any activity you can maintain.

2. Know your breasts and attend recommended screenings.
Become familiar with how your breasts normally look and feel so you can notice unusual changes early. Also, follow the breast cancer screening recommendations appropriate for your age and personal risk.

You cannot prevent every case of breast cancer, but you can take steps to reduce your risk and detect changes early.

This October, make your breast health a priority. 🎀

Your breasts can change. The important thing is knowing when a change needs attention. 🎀

Breast cancer does not always cause pain, which is why paying attention to changes in your breasts matters.

Look out for changes such as:

• A new lump or swelling in the breast or armpit

• A change in the size or shape of the breast

• Skin changes such as dimpling, redness or unusual thickening

• An unusual change in the ni**le, including discharge or inversion

• Persistent pain or discomfort in one area of the breast

Not every breast change means cancer. Many changes have other causes. But a new or unusual change should not be ignored.

Know your breasts. Attend recommended screening appointments, and speak with a healthcare professional if you notice something unusual.

Early attention can make a difference. 🎀

3 Everyday Habits That May Be Hurting Your Kidneys

You may not think twice about these habits, but over time, they can increase your risk of kidney problems.

1. Not drinking enough water 💧
Frequent dehydration can put stress on your kidneys, especially during hot weather, illness or intense physical activity. Make hydration a regular habit.

2. Taking painkillers too often 💊
Regular or excessive use of certain pain medicines, especially NSAIDs such as ibuprofen and naproxen, can harm the kidneys. Use them only as directed and speak with a healthcare professional if you need them frequently.

3. Ignoring high blood pressure or high blood sugar
High blood pressure and diabetes are two of the leading causes of kidney disease. If you have either condition, regular monitoring and proper management can help protect your kidneys.

Your kidneys work quietly every day. Don’t wait for symptoms before you start taking care of them.

💧 3 Reasons You Need to Stay Hydrated

Your body needs water to function properly. When you don’t drink enough, even simple daily activities can become harder.

1. It supports your brain.
Proper hydration helps your brain function normally. Dehydration can contribute to headaches, tiredness and difficulty concentrating.

2. It helps regulate your body temperature.
Your body uses water to cool itself, especially when you’re exercising, working outdoors or in hot weather.

3. It supports digestion and kidney function.
Water helps your digestive system function properly and supports your kidneys as they remove waste from your body.

Don’t wait until you feel extremely thirsty. Make drinking water a regular part of your day. 💧

Here are 3 preventive healthcare practices you should take seriously:

1. Get regular health checkups and screenings.
Conditions like high blood pressure, diabetes, and some cancers may not cause obvious symptoms in their early stages. Routine checkups and age-appropriate screenings can help identify problems early.

2. Build healthy daily habits.
Eat a balanced diet, stay physically active, get enough sleep, avoid to***co, and limit excessive alcohol. These habits can help lower your risk of several chronic diseases.

3. Stay up to date with recommended vaccinations.
Vaccines help protect against specific infections that can cause serious illness. The vaccines you need depend on factors such as your age, health conditions, vaccination history, and where you live.

Prevention is not a guarantee that you will never get sick. But taking preventive care seriously gives you a better chance of detecting problems early and protecting your health.

Don’t wait for a health crisis before you start paying attention to your health.

3 EARLY SIGNS OF ALZHEIMER’S YOU SHOULD NOT IGNORE

September is World Alzheimer’s Month — a time to increase awareness and help people recognize possible warning signs early.

1. Memory loss that affects daily life
Repeatedly forgetting recently learned information, asking the same questions over and over, or increasingly relying on reminders for things they previously managed independently.

2. Difficulty completing familiar tasks
Struggling with routine activities they have done many times before — such as following a familiar recipe, managing bills, or finding their way around a familiar place.

3. Confusion with time, place, or familiar information
Frequently losing track of dates or seasons, becoming confused about where they are, or having difficulty recognizing familiar surroundings.

These signs do not automatically mean someone has Alzheimer’s. Other health conditions can cause memory and thinking problems. But persistent or worsening changes should be discussed with a healthcare professional.

This Alzheimer’s Awareness Month, know the signs. Notice the changes. Encourage early medical evaluation.
