Well, if the hot weather didn’t give it away, the flowers tell us that spring has sprung at the Central Savannah River Land Trust's SugarBerry Hill Preserve. Florida dogwoods dot the landscape here and are a spring favorite in the southern US. Carolina jessamine is another common resident here at SBH. The male flowers of oak trees, known as catkins, produce lots of pollen—and a mess in gutters and on rooftops. The tulips planted by the Augusta Area Master Gardeners are also blooming. It’s just a really pretty day here.

A couple of weeks back, some of the good folks from the Augusta Area Master Gardeners visited Sugarberry Hill (formerly Laverlea Preserve) to plant tulips and put up bluebird houses--and they had a great time doing it. Already, we've had confirmed sitings of bluebirds using the houses and the tulips are reaching for the sky. The Central Savannah River Land Trust wants to thank the Augusta Area Master Gardeners for the work they're doing around SBH.

They took some great photos of the grounds and home, which are beautiful under any condition, but are exceptionally pretty with such a rare and good covering of snow.
