A local philanthropist is challenging the community to raise funds to support the Community Foundation for the CSRA's new campaign.

Thank you, Aiken Standard, for highlighting the match challenge and Rob Johnston's philanthropic heart.

Rob Johnston who is a local philanthropist is challenging the community to raise $1 million and he will match $1 million to the Community Foundation for the CSRA Community Grants Program to raise $1 million.

The Community Foundation for the CSRA has an exciting opportunity to grow impact in the CSRA!

Local philanthropist Rob Johnston has challenged the CSRA to help us raise $1 million for the Community Grants Program. When we reach our goal, he will contribute an additional $1 million to the Community Grants endowment.

$1 million for today. $1 million for tomorrow.

Together, we can support more nonprofits now while building a stronger future for generations to come.

Be a thread of impact. Help us reach $1 million.

Literacy takes all of us. 💙📚

This Literacy Month, we’re celebrating what’s possible when a community comes together to help children become confident readers.

Through the Community Foundation for the CSRA’s Literacy Initiative, more than 1,200 students engaged with our partners this year—and we’re seeing meaningful progress from our youngest learners through elementary school.

But literacy is about more than learning to read. It impacts success in school, employment, health, economic opportunity and the strength of our entire community.

Our new 2025–2026 Literacy Initiative Impact Report tells the story of this work, the partners making it possible and the progress we’re seeing.

Because improving literacy isn’t the responsibility of one school, one nonprofit or one organization. It takes all of us.

A full day of learning, collaboration, and thought-provoking conversations with our Capacity Building Cohort!

This session focused on fundraising and building strategies to help our nonprofit partners grow stronger and more sustainable.

A special thank you to Nathan Krupa with Golden Harvest Food Bank for sharing his expertise and leading such meaningful conversations, and to Jackson Drumgoole with Wellstar for sponsoring the day and investing in our nonprofit community.

We’re grateful for partners who help us strengthen the organizations doing important work across the CSRA. 💙

Community Grants are powered by community.

Last year, 188 volunteers gave their time, perspective, and local knowledge to help us make thoughtful decisions about where funding could make the greatest impact. Together, they helped us award $735,000 to 59 nonprofits serving our region.

As we work to grow Community Grants and invest even more into our nonprofit community, we need more people at the table.

You can be one of them.

Become a Community Grants Panel Volunteer and help us turn generosity into meaningful impact across the CSRA.

"Serving as a panelist gave me a deeper understanding of the incredible work happening across our community."

That's what Community Grants Panel Volunteer Velvette Myles discovered after serving on a grant review panel.

Behind every Community Grant is a team of volunteers who dedicate their time, perspective, and heart to helping strengthen the CSRA. Through the process, they gain a firsthand look at the innovative work local nonprofits are doing every day to improve lives across our six-county region.

You don't need grantmaking experience—we'll provide the training.

If you're passionate about your community and looking for a meaningful way to give back, we'd love to have you join us.
