Community Foundation staff recently visited Technical College to see its Empowering Futures Through Job Training program in partnership with The Salvation Army of Augusta.

During our visit, we observed forklift certification training and saw firsthand how participants are gaining skills that lead to employment, stability, and new opportunities. Since the program began, 40 Salvation Army clients have completed workforce boot camps and earned valuable credentials.

💙 We are grateful for Augusta Technical College’s commitment to strengthening our workforce and creating pathways to economic mobility across the CSRA.

🎓 Scholarship Opportunity for the Upcoming Fall Term! 🎓

The Kiwanis Club of Augusta Scholarship is now accepting applications from students attending or planning to enroll at Augusta Technical College or Aiken Technical College this fall.

💰 Award Amount: Up to $1,000 toward qualified educational expenses for the upcoming fall term.

📍 Who May Apply?
✅ Resident of Aiken, Burke, Columbia, or Richmond County
✅ Enrolled or planning to enroll at Augusta Technical College or Aiken Technical College
✅ Pursuing a program in one of the following areas:

Early Childhood Care & Education
Skilled Trades & Industrial Technology
Information Technology & Cybersecurity

This scholarship helps students prepare for in-demand careers while reducing the financial burden of pursuing their education.

On another Community Grants site visit, our team got the chance to cheer on the incredible athletes of the Family YMCA of Greater Augusta Exceptional Sports program. We started off with some warmups, then a soccer scrimmage. Personalities ranged from super encouraging to the most competitive. The energy and support from all in attendance, parents, athletes, volunteers, and friends, was a reflection of the best part of our community…diversity!

Because of your generosity, we were able to celebrate, encourage, and pour back into the nonprofit leaders who do so much for our community every day. We are so grateful for your support and partnership in making this event extra special.

May is National Foster Care Month! Our Community Grants site visit with Fostering The Family was everything if not inspirational. Not only does this organization offer the support of a full community to local foster families, a huge portion of their work throughout South Carolina is in preventing children from entering care in the first place by working to provide the same supports to kinship placements and family reunification efforts. Part of the morning was spent at Michael’s Room, a ministry of Fairview Presbyterian Church that works alongside Fostering the Family to provide essential items for children and families connected with DSS.
