We are completing our 2016 season this weekend. It has been a successful year getting kids to play at 50-70 with lead-offs and dropped third strikes. We played all USSSA tournaments and to date. We have one more tourney this weekend at Heritage Park in Puyallup. We played in tournaments here in western Washington, not traveling any further than Centralia and Chehalis. Including this weekend and scrimmages we will have played 24 games.
We plan on competing in 5-6 tournaments in 2017, all USSSA events in the 50-70 format with lead off and dropped third strike. We will play a few scrimmages during the early spring. We anticipate our cost for the 2017 season not to exceed $1000 and possibly match our $850 new player fee we had this season. Player fees include (2) uniforms, bag, helmet, practice facility and fields, and tournament/scrimmage costs.
Outside of our regular tournaments we are considering participating in a USSSA World Series event on the west coast at the end of the season. The cost for this tournament would be outside our player fee. We would work to either host a couple tournaments or consider fundraisers to help offset costs.
We will continue to workout at Diamond Sports starting January 1, 2017 and lighten up our practice schedule for Pony, Cal Ripken, and Little League play for our ballplayers. We will move outdoors in April for our weekend practices and then pick up weekly practices in May.
Why choose the Cubs? Your son will receive coaching and instruction with over 20+ years of experience and have a background of playing college(Texas and New Mexico) and professional baseball(Baltimore Orioles Organization). We also teach more than physical skills of baseball. The mental part of the game is a big part of our philosophy.
