WE HAVE OUR WINNERS! 🀄️🏆

A huge CONGRATULATIONS to our 1st, 2nd and 3rd place tournament winners! These players battled through four rounds of competitive Mahjong to earn their spots at the top. Bragging rights are officially theirs… at least until next time! 👏🏆

1st Pace: Kelli Bagwell
2nd Place: Kat Hamilton
3rd Place: Donna Acheson

We also had our Mimosa League, a more relaxed division created for newer players and those who simply wanted to play, laugh and enjoy a little friendly competition.

1st Place: Karen Dane

Different levels of play. The same great energy. And a room full of people coming together to have fun while supporting a wonderful cause.

Congratulations to ALL of our winners!

Our first JLAO Mahjong Open was everything we hoped it would be and more: a room full of laughter, friendly competition, and a whole lot of Mahjong, all while promoting a worthy cause right here in our community.

To everyone who played, volunteered, donated, cheered us on and helped make the day such a success, THANK YOU!

We are especially grateful to our incredible sponsors and community partners. Events like this simply aren’t possible without businesses and individuals who believe in the work of the Junior League of Auburn Opelika and are willing to invest in our community alongside us. Your generosity helped turn an idea into a truly special day.

And to our players: thank you for showing up ready to play, have fun and support our mission. Judging by these photos, we think it’s safe to say you understood the assignment.

At the Tournament tables, the serious set
Studied this year's card for the best hand to get;
Exposures were called and the tiles flew so fast,
Each hoping her hand would be Mahjong at last.

While over at Mimosa League, with laughter and fizz,
The friendly play bubbled, as friendly play is!
They traded their tiles and they traded their tales,
Raising glasses of sunshine through wins and through fails.

And every last tile, every pair, every pung,
Every toast that was raised, every cheer that was sung,
Was helping Junior League in its mission so true:
Making Auburn-Opelika stronger, too.

Then a voice rang out loud as the final round closed:
“MAHJONG!" And the whole room jumped up on its toes!
And I heard them exclaim as they drove out of sight,
“Happy Mahjong to all, and to all a good night!"

We are looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow morning at the JLAO Mahjong Open!❤️🀄️

Members of the Junior League of Auburn-Opelika gathered at The Collegiate Hotel in downtown Auburn to celebrate a year filled with service, leadership, growth, and impact. From recognizing our amazing award winners to reflecting on all this League accomplished together, the evening was a special reminder of the power of women coming together for meaningful community impact.

President, Heather McDonald, proudly passed the gavel to newly elected President, Katelyn Yarnold, as the League looks ahead to another exciting year of service and leadership.

Thank you to every member, supporter, sponsor, and community partner who helped make this year so memorable. Here’s to celebrating the accomplishments of today and the exciting future ahead. 💙✨
