We need to talk about Axon. Axon used to be Taser International, and every once in a while, its products would kill people.
That’s a problem for Axon’s business model. They promote themselves as preserving life. So what did they do? Push a discredited medical condition called “excited delirium.” Axon hired a paid consultant, Dr Deborah Mash, and pushed police departments to send autopsy samples to her. They even provided some police departments with sample press releases blaming the condition for a death after tasing.
Excited delirium, however, is rejected by the World Health Organization. And the American Medical Association. And the American Psychiatric Association.
Axon might have changed their name, but this is still a company that puts profit over people and business over safety. They cannot be trusted with our privacy or our freedoms.
