INTRODUCING OUR GALA NIGHT PANEL SPEAKERS:

Engr. Gideon & Dr. Emem Udo!

Gideon and Emem met in 1996 at the young ages of 7 and 6. Their parents were involved in the local AKSIAN chapter in Nashville, TN where they would spend many summers,
holidays, and afternoons after school playing and creating childhood memories.

In 2001, Gideon’s father accepted a job out of state and moved the family to Texas.

Besides a visit to Gideon’s family in 2007, Emem and Gideon did not stay in touch although
both sets of parents remained good friends.

A little over a decade later Gideon and Emem both attend the national convention in Phoenix, Arizona. It was a fun time where many of the families from Nashville were able to
reconnect. Gideon and Emem spent some time that weekend catching up and stayed in touch
afterward.

Over the next year, Emem made frequent visits to Texas and Gideon traveled to Nashville as the relationship grew. A year later the couple decided to be closer to each other
and Gideon helped Emem permanently move to Texas.

During this time Emem and Gideon were applying to graduate school and she got accepted to a doctorate program in a different city. She moved to the Dallas area to pursue her degree and Gideon soon followed. He proposed a few months after she started school and the couple wed a year and a half later in 2022. The couple finished the year of 2022 by purchasing their first home together and also
completing graduate school.

They reside in the Dallas area and welcomed their first child, Cherish Edikan, to the world earlier this year.

The AKISAN community has been instrumental in their love story and they are very grateful for its impact.
