💙🐝 Today, we close the chapter on BEE Club’s FY26.

As we close out our fiscal year and reflect on a month centered on freedom, resilience, and possibility through Juneteenth, I’m reminded that freedom isn’t just about where we’ve been. It’s about where we’re going together.

Because of this incredible community, this has been the most transformative year in BEE Club’s 12-year history.

Together, we:

✨ Relaunched BEE Club at Westlake High School, serving more than 50 teen girls.

✨ Connected 35 women professionals with our girls through mentorship, networking, and leadership experiences.

✨ Launched the HoneyBEE Intensive, our most advanced leadership experience, preparing 15 girls for college, careers, and lives of leadership this July.

✨ Refined our mission and leadership pathway, creating four programs that meet girls at every stage of their journey.

✨ Leveraged AI to strengthen our organization, expand our capacity, and reimagine what’s possible as a one-staff nonprofit.

✨ Received the Inspire Brands Foundation SPARK Award, a $25,000 investment in our girls and our future.

🐝 This is the pathway behind our impact:
💙 800+ girls served
🎓 100% high school graduation
📚 94% college enrollment
💰 $1.5M+ in scholarships earned

None of this would have been possible without every donor, volunteer, parent, alumna, board member, speaker, school partner, corporate partner, and community champion who chose to invest in our girls.

Today is the final day of our fiscal year, and we’re just $1,073 away from reaching the largest fundraising year in BEE Club’s history.

Happy Father’s Day from BEE Club!!💙💛🐝

As we continue reflecting on Juneteenth, freedom, and the generations whose resilience made our futures possible, we’re also thinking about the fathers and father figures who help shape the lives of girls every day.

For Black communities, fatherhood carries a unique legacy.

Despite generations of barriers designed to separate families, disrupt communities, and limit opportunity, Black fathers have continued to show up, love deeply, teach intentionally, and pass down lessons that help their children thrive.

A father teaches more than lessons.

He helps shape how a girl sees herself.
What she believes she deserves.
How she treats others.
What she believes is possible for her life.

Not by being perfect.

But by being purposeful.

By reminding her she is capable.
By encouraging her to be confident.
By teaching her to do the right thing, even when it’s hard.
By showing her the value of relationships, community, sacrifice, and service.

These lessons become part of who she is.

They help shape the leaders, changemakers, entrepreneurs, professionals, mothers, and community builders she may one day become.

This Juneteenth and Father’s Day, we celebrate the men whose love, leadership, and resilience continue to leave a lasting impact on the girls who will help shape our future.

Because freedom has always run through us.

In 1662, Virginia made slavery hereditary through the mother. A child’s freedom was determined by hers.

Black girls have always been part of this story.

That’s why investing in girls isn’t separate from freedom work.

It’s part of it. 🐝

❤️161 years after the first Juneteenth, our girls are still fighting to be seen as girls.

📌 Studies show adults view Black girls as young as 5 as less innocent and less in need of protection than their peers.
📌 Black girls are suspended from school more than 5x as often as white girls.

Too often, Black girls are asked to grow up before they get the chance to simply be girls.

Protecting a Black girl’s right to dream, lead, explore, and take up space is freedom work. 💛

💚 This is where you come in.

Black girls are so often made to feel unsafe, unworthy, even threatening — for simply existing.

At BEE Club, it’s the opposite.

Their voices are celebrated.
Their leadership is nurtured.
Their ideas are taken seriously.

BEE the Leader 🐝💛👑

We had an amazing time honoring Mental Health Awareness Month at our May Peer Leadership Lab.🥳🎊

The girls started by focusing on what they need to rest, reset, and recharge as leaders going into the summer. They created personalized mental health care kits filled with spa headbands, eye masks, stress toys, lotions, and reflection tools.

They also worked together to assemble 100 Teacher Appreciation bags for our amazing Westlake staff, honoring the leadership teachers show all year long.

A moment to care for themselves, and a moment to give back.

We are forever grateful for the girls who showed up and led with intention this year, and for the teachers who support us and our communities every day.💙🐝💛
