GjAC is proud to support this initiative that is being led by . The fact of that matter is the system is designed to punish, marginalize, and exploit a certain demographic of people. Fulton County Jail is severely overcrowded and chaotic, yet criminal indictments are not timely, Judges are not held liable for not honoring Speedy Trials, and the people are still confined to an unsafe jail. Our participation in bailing out Fathers is about exposing the system as well as our community to what collective power looks like. Every person bailed out will be vetted to ensure they have a mindset and action plan for writing a new life chapter!!! Tap in to support and/or learn more!!!

Today GjAC was on hand to support a brother who turned himself in to the Fulton County Jail. We bumped into Crystal from and also a young man who is contracted to clean hosing units with the jail for $13 an hour. As a new organization, we will be boots on the ground fighting for recidivism reduction, restorative justice and prison prevention.

Georgia Jail Action Committee (GjAC) is a restorative-centered vanguard that promotes recidivism reduction, restorative justice, and prison prevention. We want to starve the Peach state’s appetite for incarceration‼️
📣 In a city that is 46-48% Black, Atlanta’s Fulton County Jail is 88% Black.
📌Clayton County Jail was featured in a viral video and now ranks as one of the most
“dangerous jails” in the nation
📌Formerly incarcerated people are systematically discriminated against increasing the level of difficulty reintegrating into society Survivors and victims of crimes should be present, informed, and involved on both sides of Criminal and Restorative Justice.
📌Justice Impacted people are accepting and willing to offer service within the community and community organizations as contributions to break the cycle of criminal behavior, community disruption, incarceration, and repeated “Reentry”into society.

The 2nd Annual Restoration & Representation Summit was truly a transformative exposition of why the criminal justice system needs to bend and blend restorative practices for the greater common good. Georgia has the 4th largest prison population in the nation and gives out 3X more probation than the national average. BMI brought together criminal justice stakeholders, cultural influences, frontline organizers, survivors of crime, formerly incarcerated people, and the community to hold our systems and each other accountable. Restorative Justice is anchored by 5 principles: & Respect & Responsibility Relationships, Repair, Reintegration. Shout out to the entire Black Male Initiative organization for locking in to ensure that this Summit was impactful.
