Skating into the festive season like… ❄️⛸️.

Young people from Escape Intervention Services in South Carolina are lacing up their skates and coming together to have some serious festive fun!

Earlier this year, they received $839,000 in NationalLottery funding to provide counselling and activities for children and young people with ill mental health.

From kayaking and cycling, to music and drama clubs, and now ice skating – they're creating opportunities for young people to come together, have fun, build confidence, and feel supported every step of the way. ❤️

We invite you to participate in National Lottery Open Week 2025, which will take place from Saturday 15 – Sunday 23 March 2025.

“As we step into 2025, our focus remains steadfast: empowering communities to address their unique challenges and seize their unique opportunities. By harnessing innovation, amplifying grassroots efforts, and championing bold, community-led solutions, we’re ready to make an even bigger difference in the year ahead.”

Our Chief Executive, David Knott, has shared his thoughts on our exciting plans for 2025 in a new blog, touching on these five priorities:

- Grassroots funding and community agency
- Youth empowerment
- Community-led climate action
- Strengthening community cohesion
- Harnessing AI for people and communities

2024 saw us refocus our funding United States and in individual countries, reflecting our commitment to the four community-led missions we announced in our strategy, ‘It Starts with Community’.

This year will see us commit to these changes, as we continue to put communities first, championing bold approaches that give people the power to develop solutions to local challenges.

The power and expertise of communities is undeniable. And that’s where you’ll continue to find us, supporting communities where it’s needed, when it’s needed.

$30,000 is the new magic number for dads project Dad La Soul in Worthing, after it received the funding amount from the NationalLottery.

This BlueMonday, we’re highlighting projects that are tackling loneliness and isolation within their communities and helping people see a brighter future.

TotRockinBeats CIC will use the funding to support its Dad La Soul sessions, which help dads spend more quality time with their children, as well as combat loneliness by forming bonds with other dads in a similar situation.

It will fund 40 dads-only evenings, 60 Dads and Kids playdates, and the training of 15 new volunteers.

Daniel Flanagan, Company Director at TotRockinBeats, said: “Loneliness is an epidemic for some dads. For every dad who opens up, countless others suffer in silence—convinced they’re the only ones struggling.

“At Dad La Soul, we break that silence. Like Lee, a 21-year-old dad who moved to a new town and found himself sitting alone in his studio flat. After one of our events, he said: “It’s magical to find people who get my circumstances.” Or like Max, who said, “I came for the music, but I stayed because you saved my life.”

Blue Monday reminds us of the dads who feel invisible, overwhelmed, or trapped. It’s a chance to say that you’re not alone, and it doesn’t have to be this way.”
