The Daughters of the British Empire in Georgia

The Daughters of the British Empire in Georgia The Daughters of the British Empire (DBE) is a 501(c)(3) American society of women of British or Commonwealth birth, ancestry, naturalization or marriage.

We share and promote our British heritage while supporting local charities and Mountbatten House. The Daughters of the British Empire (DBE) is a charitable, non-profit, non-political, non-sectarian, voluntary American society of women of British or Commonwealth ancestry, either by birth or marriage. Its members are professionals, businesswomen, and homemakers with common interests and heritage, wh

o meet regularly for business and other events with the common cause of philanthropy. The society was founded in the United States on March 15, 1909, as the Imperial Order, Daughters of the Empire in the U.S.A., and became the National Society, Daughters of the British Empire in the U.S.A. in 1920. The National Society is incorporated in the State of Delaware. The Society is affiliated with the Imperial Order Daughters of the Empire in Canada (I.O.D.E.); the Victoria League in London, England; and the General Federation of Womenโ€™s Clubs in the United States. The Honorary President of the DBE is the British Ambassador to the U.S. or the Ambassador's wife. For over 100 years, The Daughters of the British Empire in the U.S.A. has been a common bond for women of British and Commonwealth heritage living in America. Members, joining together in fellowship, contribute significantly to the good of their local communities and support the four retirement homes for men and women established by the DBE.

Today Oglethorpe Chapter made tea boxes for the Irish Festival in Norcross. Each tea box contained chicken, cream cheese + cucumber, and egg sandwiches, sausage rolls, mini quiches and cheese and tomato on a stick, along with a scone, clotted cream and jam, a lemon slice, chocolate cake and a shortbread shamrock. And teabags to brew your tea and some toffees. This year we made a few vegetarian boxes to try out. We made the sandwiches and assembled the boxes in a commercial kitchen. Thanks to all the ladies who came out to help today and to those who have been working hard in the background for days. And of course huge thanks to Rukhsana and Taste Of Britain Norcross, GA without whom these fundraisers would be impossible. โ˜˜๏ธ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ช

Tea boxes at the British Car Show in Norcross today for Oglethorpe Chapter's latest fundraiser. We sold ~100 boxes. Not a bad day's work.... in a nearby commercial kitchen for the prep. Thanks so much to our hardworking bakers and shoppers and especially to Rukhsana and Taste Of Britain Norcross, GA without whom this would not even be feasible.
