Christ-Centered. Long-Term. Recovery Residence. Restoring Homeless Women with Addictions We also provide ongoing support to Gilgal alumni after program completion.

Through our one-year, two-phase program, we provide food, clothing and housing, as well as a full range of addiction services, spiritual nourishment, life skills development, health and wellness education and career training and education. We are located in Atlanta and currently serve the metro area, as well as greater Georgia. Gilgal has a 501(c)(3) designation and relies upon generous donations from individuals, churches, businesses, foundations, and community organizations. OUR VISION:
Assist women in breaking the cycle of defeat that led them to drug and alcohol addiction and replace it with a cycle of victorious living through Jesus Christ. OUR VALUES:
Using the Holy Bible as our guide, we will: exercise integrity by doing the right thing at all times; deliver best of breed service offerings to our clients and employees; treat clients with dignity and worth; exercise sound fiscal accountability for individuals and organizations who invest in us; and give back to the community.

We’re grateful to announce Ron and Cordie Swift as Honorary Chairs of Gilgal’s 12th Annual Blue Jean Gala💙

Their story with Gilgal starts on one Sunday at church, Val Cater, Gilgal’s founder, asked Ron to pray about a ministry her husband had asked her to start. Once started, Val asked Ron to teach a class on baptism for residents who had accepted Christ. Ron taught the class and through the years has had the privilege of baptizing a number of ladies at First Baptist Atlanta and at One Heart Church. Val then asked him to teach quarterly family reunification sessions on Saturdays, which he has done for years. In 2008, Val allowed GilgGilgalbe the service venue for Cordie’s 50th birthday party. Over 25 friends painted, cleaned windows, planted flowers and moved an extremely heavy copier while interacting with the ladies. For years, Pastor Ron has encouraged the ladies in a weekly Bible study - including on Zoom during the pandemic. Since her retirement from Whitefield Academy in 2023, Cordie joins him. “It’s our joy to see, “Change happen at Gilgal,” in the lives of the ladies.”

International Overdose Awareness Day marks 25 years today.

Recovery is possible. We watch it happen. But it's a lot more possible when someone has a safe place to land, which is why long-term housing, structure, and support for women in recovery is imperative to transformation.

Today we're thinking about the ones who didn't make it, and the families who lost them. And we're staying in the fight for the ones still here.

Come meet Deborah at this year's Blue Jean Gala. 💙

Today, Deborah serves as a case manager at Gilgal walking alongside the women who arrive where she once stood, helping them graduate while encouraging them to believe in themselves and trust God. After 15 transformational years, the mission that changed her life has become the work of her life.
It wasn't always this way.

In 2008, Deborah came to Gilgal battling addiction and facing homelessness, unsure there was any way out. She graduated from our program in 2010 and never left. Her journey from client to case manager is beyond a success story. It's a powerful reminder of the ripple effect of compassion when change happens at Gilgal.

This year, you can meet her in person at our 12th Annual Blue Jean Gala. Come hear her story, celebrate the women of Gilgal, and be part of the mission that makes transformations like hers possible.
