2026 MILLAGE RATE PUBLIC HEARINGS

The City of Chamblee is hosting three public hearings regarding the 2026 millage rate. In December 2025, the City Council adopted a general fund budget of $35,992,731 for Fiscal Year 2026.

The proposed millage rate of 7.25 mills, compared to the current rate of 6.25 mills, will result in an increase in property taxes by 23.47 percent over the rollback millage rate. The proposed rate represents a one-mill increase over the City's current 6.25 rate. For example, the proposed tax increase for a home with a fair market value of $525,000 would be approximately $275.60, and the proposed tax increase for non-homestead property with a fair market value of $1,700,000 is approximately $723.15.

Three public hearings will be held at the Chamblee City Hall, located at 3518 Broad Street, Chamblee, Georgia 30341, on:
• Thursday, June 4, 2026, at 6:00 p.m.
• Thursday, June 11, 2026, at 11:30 a.m.
• Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at 6:00 p.m.

"Chamblee has held the millage rate steady for seven years, and that record matters to the Council, me and our staff," said Mayor Brian K. Mock. "Our residents have come to expect a superior level of service, with public safety, parks, recreation and infrastructure we can be proud of. Like every household and every business in our City and country, we are dealing with cost increases across nearly everything we do. The Council and I are approaching this decision carefully, publicly and with respect for the residents we serve. We want to hear from residents and encourage them to attend our public hearings."

Please join us this Thursday, 5/14, at 6pm at the Chamblee City Council meeting to support the future of the Peachtree Creek Greenway (PCG) as Alliance’s proposed Century Center redevelopment moves forward (especially if you are a Chamblee resident).

This redevelopment represents a rare, once-in-a-generation opportunity to preserve the future Greenway corridor before the area is fully redeveloped. The priority right now is ensuring the project preserves right-of-way, easements, connectivity, and compatibility for the future PCG - so redevelopment today does not make the Greenway harder or impossible to complete tomorrow.

Regional momentum around the PCG continues to grow through Brookhaven’s expansion efforts, DeKalb County trail investments, and increasing recognition of the Greenway’s economic and community value.

We need strong community presence and respectful public support at this meeting.

❗Please:

🟢 Attend the meeting Thursday, May 14th, 6pm
🟢 Wear your green PCG shirt (or any green shirt) to show visible support)
🟢 Be prepared to speak during public comments at the end of the meeting (3 min limit)
🟢 Keep remarks positive, collaborative, and focused on preserving the corridor and future connectivity

📍 Meeting Location:
Chamblee City Hall
3518 Broad Street
Chamblee, GA 30341

The message is simple: preserve the opportunity for the Peachtree Creek Greenway while redevelopment is occurring.

Another way to help is to Email Chamblee City Council and ask them incorporate the Greenway into this development https://www.chambleega.com/mayor___council/index.php
