CFVC was honored to join Encompass Ministries at the FlavorFest celebration this past Saturday to share information about the services we provide for survivors of intimate partner violence!

Encompass Ministries is a local community organization providing food assistance, employment planning services, and life skills training to those in need in our community.

We are thankful for the invitation to participate in FlavorFest and for the continued support that Sabrina and her team at Encompass Ministries provide to survivors in our community ๐Ÿ’œ

Thank you to the students in the Teach One to Lead One program at North Cobb High School for recently donating handmade blankets to CFVC as part of their semester service project.

Year after year, these handmade blankets have brought comfort to survivors in our Emergency Shelter and Transitional Housing programs. We are so incredibly thankful to the Teach One to Lead One students at North Cobb High School for continuing to think of CFVC for their service projects ๐Ÿ’œ

Itโ€™s Mental Health Awareness Month ๐Ÿง ๐Ÿ’

Did you know that domestic violence is associated with an increased risk of mental illness? According to the American Psychological Association, approximately 20% of all domestic violence survivors report experiencing a new onset of psychiatric disorders and symptoms following the first incident of abuse. These include PTSD, depression, anxiety, panic attacks, substance use dependency, self harm, and more.

At CFVC, we work closely with survivors to identify their individual mental health needs and provide supportive services (such as individualized case management, support groups, and psychoeducational workshops) to assist them along their journey toward healing. We also provide advocacy services with local organizations to help clients obtain mental health services that are specific to their individual needs!

Throughout the month of May, we will be sharing information on the various ways we incorporate mental health into our work with survivors, so stay tuned ๐Ÿ’œ

Today is ๐Ÿ‘–

1 in 3 women and 1 in 6 men will experience sexual violence in their lifetime, and how we - as individuals, as a community, as a society - show up for victims of sexual violence matters. Today, denim isnโ€™t just a piece of clothing. Itโ€™s a symbol to stand united with survivors of sexual violence and raise awareness for the harmful effects of r**e culture and victim blaming.

The CFVC Housing Team is wearing denim to join this worldwide movement to stand in solidarity with survivors of sexual violence in our community and beyond ๐Ÿฉต
