We had a wonderful time today at the monthly Ladies' Day event at Hillside Missionary Baptist Church. A special thank you to Ms. Sharon for the invitation and to everyone who attended, both ladies and gentlemen. My speech was titled "Lifting the Veil of Silence Surrounding Breast Cancer." Today's questions, stories, and experiences were heartfelt, encouraging, and empowering. Thank you all for allowing me to participate in this meaningful event.

WHAT'S ON MY MIND? I'm sorry FB friends, but I must speak out. I'm so frustrated with corporations and businesses profiting from the sale of breast cancer products and not donating the proceeds to charities to help women with cancer. They say they're donating to "cancer research", but that's not true--only 42% of the proceeds are designated for "research". The rest--who knows. It's ironic that October, designated as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, seems to be the only time when this exploitation occurs. Why is that? I'm upset that many of the products on the market today, contain some form of carcinogens contributing to women's cancers, yet when adorned with a pink ribbon, the products become gold. As a two-time breast cancer survivor, and the head of a charity organization, I had to vent.
