Family of the Year - Barb and Ray Meyer - Saint Rita Catholic Church
Each month, the Family of the Month Committee selects one parish family that models Christian family values and visibly lives them every day. At the end of the July-June Fiscal Year we select one Family as our Family of the Year.
For 2025-26 we are proud to announce the family of Ray and Barbara Meyer as our Family of the Year at Saint Rita. They are well-known and respected members of the Parish and are deeply devoted to the faith and our church.
Ray and Barbara share a rich history, as a couple, in liturgical contributions to the Catholic church and have been active at Saint Rita for nearly 30 years.
First at Corpus Christi, then here at Saint Rita, they were the Presenting team with Engaged Encounter (marriage prep retreats) for 10 years (1992-2012) and Diocesan leaders for the program for two of those ten years. During that time, they were chosen to be part of a committee to help the bishop to re-write the marriage prep requirements for the diocese.
The Meyers joined Saint Rita Catholic Church in 1996, serving as ushers and lectors. They are still lectors today.
Ray has been a member of the Pastoral Council and Finance Council Chairman from 2012-2018. He was actively involved in planning and construction of the Pre-School and then planning/building the Family Life Center building.
Currently, Ray is an Officer and extremely involved in many aspects of the Knights of Columbus, Council 17689. He’s also a member of the men’s GROW bible study and the Tuesday studies.
In April of 2025 Ray was also asked to become Chairman of the Finance Council.
Barbara has a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing and a Master’s degree in Management. In 2018 she completed a two-year Diocesan lay program that included online studies with Notre Dame University’s formation program (McGrath Institute for Church Life). She then completed more online studies to receive her certificate in Scripture from the Institute in 2022. She has led with, Ray’s great help, the Spring and Fall Tuesday studies at Saint Rita Parish since 2014.
