This month's book recommendation is one that profoundly shaped our Executive Director Bekah's understanding of rest. Sabbath: Finding Rest, Renewal, and Delight in Our Busy Lives by Wayne Muller offers a gentle but powerful invitation to embrace rhythms our souls are often hungry for...even when we don't yet know what that looks like.

Here's what Bekah shared: "This is the first book I read on Sabbath practices. It was more of an invitation to rhythms I was hungry for in my soul, but didn't know what that looked like yet. Reading this for the first time was when the Lord opened my eyes to Sabbath being delight in the Lord rather than an excuse for laziness."

For global workers navigating demanding ministry and for anyone feeling the weight of busyness, this book reframes rest not as a luxury or laziness, but as a sacred practice rooted in delight. Sabbath isn't just about stopping. It's about returning to the source of life and finding renewal in God's presence.

If you decide to read it, we'd love to hear what insights or encouragement you discover along the way!

Debriefing gets misunderstood A LOT — and we get it. When you hear the word, it's easy to think of a therapy session, a performance review, or something you only need if things went really wrong.

But that's not what this is.

A debrief is a guided space to reflect on your time on the field or in ministry — to name what is hard, grieve what you've lost, and experience an exchange with the Lord. It's not clinical. It's not about fixing you. It's about honoring what you're carrying.

You don't have to be struggling to deserve that kind of care. You just have to have a story — and you do.

Save this for the next time someone asks what debriefing actually is. And if you've been curious whether it might be for you, we'd love to connect with you.

We have some incredibly exciting news to share! 🎉

We are so proud to celebrate our Founder and Executive Director, Rev. Dr. Rebekah M. F. Baxter, EdD, who has officially graduated with her Doctorate of Education in Community Care and Counseling in Pastoral Care from Liberty University!

Bekah's doctoral journey has been marked by dedication and love for those in ministry. Her dissertation, Understanding Secondary Trauma in Cross-Cultural Ministry Contexts, is a reflection of her deep commitment to the workers and communities we serve — and we know it will make a lasting contribution to the field.

Dr. Baxter, it is an honor to do this work alongside you. This achievement is well-earned and so worth celebrating.

Please join us in congratulating her in the comments below! 🎓

Mother’s Day holds so many stories, and today, we celebrate them all.

Around the world, we honor mothers. Those who are nurturing, leading, loving and showing up in countless ways. Your love brings life, stability and beauty into the world.

And today, we also acknowledge that this day is tender for so many. For the cross cultural mom who is raising children between worlds carrying the weight of that cost and the beauty. For those who long to be moms that are holding hope alongside heartache. For those who have experienced loss that are grieving. For those who mother spiritually pouring out wisdom and care in ways that shape the next generation.

Wherever you find yourself today whether it’s celebrating, grieving, hoping, or a mix of it all, we are grateful for you.

Happy Mother’s Day from all of us at Chosen Vessels!

This year, we want to keep the needs of our partners around the globe at the forefront so you can join us in supporting them through prayer. Today, we're focusing on our faithful partners in Montenegro.

Montenegro presents a unique challenge: while the majority of the population identifies as Christian, very few have encountered a clear, biblical understanding of the Gospel. The evangelical church remains one of the smallest in all of Europe. Yet God is faithfully at work through dedicated pastors, workers, and believers who are patiently sowing seeds of truth with great love. Our partners are investing in university students, building relationships and sharing the hope of Christ with the next generation.

Please join us in prayer for:
- Clarity of the Gospel to break through cultural and religious misconceptions
- The next generation of believers to be hungry for truth and grounded in God's Word
- Encouragement and strength for the small but faithful evangelical church
- Breakthrough in hearts that have grown familiar with Christianity in name but not in relationship

Will you take a moment today to lift our partners in Montenegro before the Lord? Through your faithful prayers, God continues advancing His kingdom and cultivating genuine faith in places where the Gospel is obscured.

Our newest book recommendation comes with a personal endorsement from our Executive Director, Bekah Baxter. The Sacred Journey by Charles Foster has profoundly shaped how she thinks about following Jesus—not as a static faith, but as one marked by movement, presence, and walking alongside the God who goes with us.

Here's what Bekah shared: "This book has impacted me almost more than any other book. As Foster shares about 'The Walking Jesus' he reminds us that our God is a God of movement. He is the One who is walking alongside us. One of my favorite quotes from the book is, 'Walking is better than sitting—better for your soul and your eternal destiny, as well as your back and your mood. In order to follow Jesus, you have to stop sitting and start walking. That's what Matthew did, and so the wanderers multiply and the wandering goes on.'"

For global workers and those who support them, this book is a beautiful reminder that faithfulness isn't about arriving—it's about continuing to walk with Jesus, wherever He leads. If you decide to read it, we'd love to hear what insights or encouragement you discover along the way!

As we celebrate our 10th year, we wanted to do something special. We want to share ten moments throughout 2026 that tell the story of how Chosen Vessels came to be and what the Lord has done over this past decade. Celebration is woven into the fabric of who we are at CV, and it feels only right to pause and honor all that God has faithfully accomplished through this ministry. Our second moment is a reflection in 2016 from Bekah Baxter, our Founder and Executive Director.

“Spring of 2016, I hopped in my car on a warm sunny day in Rome, Georgia and drove to my nearest post office. In the seat next to me sat a folder of forms, my application for 501(c)3 status in Georgia for my newly formed company, “Chosen Vessels Inc.” I prayed along my drive that the Lord would provide status quickly as I was headed to Romania for the summer to serve a local church in a Roma community. Just a few short weeks later, the Lord had provided status, and I began fundraising for the care I had committed to for the year.

That summer, serving alongside a team of eight, in a very under-resourced community, opened my eyes to the toll and weight of full time ministry. Day after day I was shocked by the daily experiences these workers endured as they hoped and invested in a place in deep need of restoration from the Lord.

This first year of the life of CV was one of deeply personal growth for me as the Lord opened my eyes to the great need for care for workers and their families. Ten years later, hundreds of workers served, I still think about these eight leaders, their families and their hearts for ministry on a weekly basis.”

This year, we're sharing verses that connect to our Rivers out of Eden theme—a vision for God's life-giving presence flowing into every area of our lives. We're starting with Psalm 46:1-4, a passage that reminds us where our strength and peace come from, even in the midst of chaos and uncertainty.

Verse 4 captures the heart of what we're leaning into this year: "There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy place where the Most High dwells." The river isn't something we create or manufacture—it flows from God's presence. When we return to the source, we find gladness, stability, and life that sustains us for the long haul.

Where do you need to experience the river of God's presence flowing into your life right now?

We're heading to Mexico June 14-20, 2026 to host a retreat for workers serving in the region, and we'd love for you to join us! Our team will provide care through teaching sessions, prayer ministry, children's programming and teen activities. We will be creating space for workers and their families to rest, be refreshed, and encounter God's presence.

We're especially in need of children's ministry workers to join our team, but we're also looking for those gifted in prayer ministry, teen ministry, and adult care. Our team will begin meeting and planning soon, so if you've been thinking about serving on a trip, now is the time! Visit tr.ee/CVtrips2026 for more info and to apply. This year, we want to keep the needs of our partners around the globe at the forefront so you can join us in supporting them through prayer. Today, we're focusing on our faithful partners in Tanzania.

Tanzania is home to many unreached and resistant tribes, but God is at work through partners deeply committed to seeing communities transformed by the Gospel. They're coming alongside local believers to build authentic relationships in resistant areas, demonstrating Christ's love through practical care and community engagement. As trust grows and barriers come down, doors open for evangelism, discipleship, and the establishment of indigenous churches led by those within the community itself.

Please join us in prayer for:
- Gospel advancement among unreached and resistant tribes
- Effective discipleship and church planting that leads to multiplication and lasting transformation
- Local believers and churches to be encouraged and strengthened as they evangelize and disciple in their communities

Will you take a moment today to lift our partners in Tanzania before the Lord? Through your faithful prayers, God continues advancing His kingdom and bringing hope to some of the most resistant and unreached places in the world.
