Strong leaders must possess many traits in order to lead successfully. When we think about the leadership we strive to uphold at and , it is about serving with guidance and wisdom. It is a commitment to act ethically and morally. It is leadership by and with young people. And it is a commitment to leadership that creates a better world for us all.

Since our inception, The Truth Teller has given a voice to the voiceless, and brings to light the issues affecting African Americans that are obscured or ignored by the mainstream media, special interests, and the politically correct. We advocate for young people to lead change where they see injustice. The systems designed to keep people safe and secure is clearly broken when yet another African American, and in particular, an African American male, is murdered on our streets.

will continue to develop and support our young people and strengthen our own resolve to continue to develop young people as leaders of today in not only challenging but changing the broken systems that cause harm to us all.

From Vision to Reality

Formed in 2017, The Truth Teller, Inc. is a registered 501(c)(3) charitable organization and is dedicated to providing opportunities for disadvantaged African American youth. We launched our inaugural program, A.P. Torrence Youth Leadership Academy, in June 2018 with the goal of exposing 25 African American males aged 10-15 to a unique learning experience focused on equipping them with the tools needed to help them become and thrive as productive leaders in their schools, families and communities. The Leadership Academy dramatically impacted the lives of 16 young men, with 11 finishing the Academy powerfully.

We are already preparing and planning for 2019 by expanding our reach and building support. Our intention: create a culture shift and living legacy of future African American male leaders for our communities and our country. The candidates for our 2019 Leadership Academy are all around us. They are in our neighborhoods, schools, and churches. They are waiting for us to take the initiative and show an interest in their lives -- to wholeheartedly support their awakening as the conscientious leaders they were born to be.
