It’s not an opioid crisis, it’s a love crisis.

Nobody wants to feel like they’re able to function only when they have drugs. Nobody wants to spend the little free time they have in shame seeking out these drugs they need just to get by. Nobody wants to go to bed every night afraid to feel sick in the morning. Nobody. Even if being an addict is a choice, in some marginally small sense, it’s a choice from hell. Working 9-5 with a family and television is a dream for most addicts. You don’t want what they have, trust me.

These are people who are not ‘winning’ life or getting one over on you. It is not an overstatement to say they desperately need your love and respect, like every human being deserves. 99/100 times, it is the isolation, not the drugs, that leads addicts to have their stories end in tragedy.
