You can play a part in preventing prescription drug misuse and abuse! Just take the ONE ☝ step to securely lock up all current medications in the home. Locking away your meds reduces access from those they are not intended for, thus preventing the chance of misuse!

A recent study found that substance use numbers have been reaching record highs among young and midlife adults! 😱
This is why prevention work is so important, and we encourage parents to be involved! Having conversations with your children about the harms of substance use and healthy mental health practices are acts of prevention and protective factors against substance use! This simple act can prevent addiction and abuse into their young adulthood and midlife! All it takes is for one ☝ meaningful conversation to influence your child's choice to refrain from using substances! So, have the conversation early and often!

Recently, the CDC developed the Free Mind campaign to help prevent and reduce drug use and overdose among youth. The campaign was created through research and real conversations with youth, parents, and caregivers. Through these conversations, CDC identified a need to address the connection between substance use and mental health among youth ages 12-17.

The longer and the more a teen drinks, the more irreparable damage is done! There are other ways to fit in and/or have fun... drinking should not be a part of it at the expense of health!

A new report found that nearly 40% of all cancers are due to factors that we can control, and 🚨two of the top 3 are addictive substances🚨: to***co and alcohol. If we put more money and resources into prevention, risk reduction, and early intervention in these areas, how much pain, suffering, and lost lives would we save? Not to mention saving on healthcare expenses! Prevention programs in the workplace or at the public health level are widely known to have an ROI of between $5 - $24 back in savings for every dollar spent.
