We, The National Federation of the Blind of Georgia,
support Senate Bill (SB 4) which passed the 2022-2023 senate session.

The House Bill (H.B. 341), has yet to be voted out of the House
of Representatives Education Committee since sessions 2022-2023 and now 2023-2024.

We are asking registered voters of the state of Georgia to join us in calling
and or emailing your state representative and ask him or her to immediately urge Chris Erwin, Chairman of the Education Committee to put (H.B 341), the “Blind Persons’ Braille Literacy Rights and Education Act “; on the floor for a vote.

It’s giving Tuesday!

Dear Federation family,

In 2010, the National Federation of the Blind of Georgia launched our Braille Enrichment for Literacy and Learning (BELL) Academy to empower blind and low vision children to grow into confident and independent blind people who live the life they want. Since then, we have taught Braille and nonvisual skills to over 100 children. That’s incredible! But there’s more work to be done.

Many blind and low vision children in our state do not receive enough Braille and nonvisual instruction in school. Parents are required to find alternative solutions to help their child develop critical literacy and life skills. Our BELL Academy serves as a beacon of hope and lays a foundation that changes lives and what it means to be blind. We must make sure the sound of the bells resonates far and wide!

Let’s unite and give generously to empower our blind children this Giving Tuesday. They need our support to achieve success and reach their dreams. It is up to us if it is to be.

Hello NFBGA Members, It is convention time and the NFBGA convention registration is on the website. Registration is now open. Registered attendees will be entered in a special drawing. The drawing will take place on Sunday October 10th during our business meeting. You must be present to win!

We regret to inform you of the passing of Mr. Wayne High. Wayne was a long time federation member of the NFB Georgia State Affiliate where he served 1 term as the NFB Georgia State Affiliate President from 1998 to 2000, and a previous passed President of the NFB Decatur Area chapter for 30 years. He will be greatly missed.
