Did you know?
• Around 1 in 8 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime.
• In the U.S. this year alone, approximately 313,780 new cases are expected, with about 35,770 deaths.
• Prostate cancer is the second-leading cause of cancer death among men, behind only lung cancer.

Key Risk Factors
• Age: Most diagnoses occur in men 65 or older, with the average age at around 67.
• Race and Ethnicity: Black/African American men are significantly more at risk—1 in 6 will be diagnosed, and they’re nearly twice as likely to die from it compared to White men.
• Family History & Genetics: Having a father or brother with prostate cancer doubles your risk; two affected first-degree relatives increase your risk fivefold. Variants like BRCA2 further raise the risk.

Early Diagnosis Matters
• Approximately 70% of cases are diagnosed at the local stage (before spreading) — earlier treatment options become possible.
• Localized prostate cancer has a near 100% five-year survival rate.
• However, advanced-stage cancer has much lower survival—around 30–40% at 5 years.

Prevention & Detection Tips
• Screening: Regular check-ups, especially PSA blood tests, can detect cancer early—even before symptoms appear.
• Know the signs: Early symptoms are often subtle but can include frequent urination, weak stream, erectile dysfunction, progressing to bone pain or weight loss if later stages.
• Healthy lifestyle: Eating more cruciferous vegetables, fish, soy, and tomatoes (lycopene)—while reducing red meat, dairy, and high calcium intake—may lower risk. Regular vigorous exercise also helps.

Important Note: Screening can lead to overdiagnosis of slow-growing cancers. That’s why PSA testing should be a shared decision between you and your doctor—especially for men in their 55–69 age range.

Let’s Spread Awareness Together!
1. Tag the men you love—dads, brothers, uncles, or friends. Let’s encourage open conversations about prostate health.
2. Encourage early screening—especially for men over 50, or over 45 with higher risk.
3. Share this post to raise awareness and help save lives.

Early detection makes a real difference. Together, we can kick prostate cancer to the curb. 💙
