THROWBACK THURSDAY 🎉

Looking back on a really special night celebrating Heart for Africa’s 10th birthday and the incredible work they’re doing through Project Canaan in the Kingdom of Eswatini.

It was a great night of fundraising, great people, and a great cause. Nights like this are a reminder of why I love what I do.

And yes… I even wore my birthday suit! 😂🎂

TIP TUESDAY 💡

Here’s something to think about when planning your next fundraiser:

Make sure guests can still participate clearly when it’s time to give.

Alcohol can be part of the event, but too much can affect a guest’s ability to follow instructions, understand a bid, or make a clear giving decision.

And it’s not just the live auction. Fund-A-Need, live appeals, games, raffles, and other fundraising moments can be affected too.

The goal? Let guests have a great time while still being able to confidently participate when it matters most.

It’s an easy detail to overlook, but an important one to plan for.

Tonight, I’m excited to join the TCSG Foundation’s Pathways to Graduation Gala as their Benefit Auctioneer.

The TCSG Foundation supports students across Georgia’s 22 technical colleges, helping provide resources, scholarships, and opportunities that strengthen Georgia’s workforce.

Looking forward to celebrating the students and the work that makes these opportunities possible.

WILDCARD WEDNESDAY 🎯

A James Bond-themed dinner raised $69,750.

And here’s the part that caught my attention:

It was a “buy-a-seat” dinner.

During the live auction at a 2024 charity wine auction in Destin, Florida, guests had the opportunity to buy seats for a James Bond-themed dinner.

The result? $69,750 raised from the experience.

It’s a good reminder that auction items don’t always have to be something guests can take home. Sometimes, the experience itself is what makes people want to bid.

One simple question can uncover a lot:

What could make this easier?

Walk through your fundraiser from the guest’s perspective.

Is it easy to understand what’s happening?
Is it easy to participate?
Do your volunteers know what they need to do?
Can your staff handle things without having to solve the same problem over and over?

Sometimes improving an event isn’t about adding something new. It’s about making something that’s already there easier to navigate.

That can make a difference for your guests, your team, and ultimately your fundraising results.

And whether your event is in English, Spanish, or both, everyone should feel like they know what’s happening and how to take part.
