Even under the weight of worldwide tragedy, the extraordinary women Atlanta Women for Equality represents have managed to achieve incredible victories this year in the fight to stop schools from subordinating campus r**e survivors' legal rights to their rapists' demands. They have refused to be silenced during campus disciplinary proceedings and launched federal investigations. They have also used Title IX to take action in court.
With your support, AWE will take even bolder steps in 2022 to establish groundbreaking court precedent giving campus r**e survivors new, less prohibitively demanding avenues for legal remedies.
Your donation will also enable AWE to grow.
AWE is here because no one should be punished for having been r***d. In most cases, having an attorney during the complex, highly traumatic reporting process is the only way a survivor can obtain the protections, accommodations, and impartial decision-making they need for just resolutions and continued access to their educations. However, the vast majority of survivors cannot afford representation.
With just one attorney on staff, AWE is too small to meet the needs of all campus sexual violence survivors in Georgia, a state where hundreds of thousands of women are pursuing college, professional, or graduate degrees. Roughly 20% of these women will experience sexual violence at some point during enrollment.
With your invaluable support, AWE hopes to hire at least one new staff member so that we can represent twice as many survivors, offer more internships for law students, and provide education sessions to students and attorneys interested in advocating for survivors.
Our clients deserve an equal chance to achieve their dreams, and you help make that possible!
We're going to revolutionize Title IX practices and case law in 2022, but we need your help!
