Every year, 1 in 6 people with Parkinson’s will experience avoidable complications in the hospital. One of the key ways to avoid complications is to avoid medications that can worsen Parkinson's symptoms.

Learn which medications should be avoided, which alternatives may be safer and what questions to ask your healthcare team: Parkinson.org/HospitalSafety

🎉 What a weekend for our Parkinson's Foundation Georgia Chapter Ambassadors! 🎉

This past Saturday, August 1, we hosted our very first Ambassador Retreat, and it was an incredible day! Attendees came together to learn more about the Foundation's mission, discover meaningful ways to get involved as ambassadors, connect with fellow advocates, and map out their own plans to help us deliver impact across Georgia.

One attendee summed it up perfectly: "The entire day was valuable, especially individual stories."

The celebration actually started the night before! On Friday, July 31, our ambassadors were invited to a Braves game in the Jim Beam Bourbon Deck, where they had the chance to connect with other members of the Georgia Chapter community in a fun, relaxed setting.

From the ballpark to the retreat, this weekend was all about building relationships, sharing knowledge, and strengthening our community as we work together toward a world without Parkinson's. 💛

Thank you to everyone who joined us and to our ambassadors for their continued dedication to our mission! Interested in helping the Parkinson's Foundation reach those who need help the most in Georgia? Parkinson’s is the world’s fastest-growing neurodegenerative disease, with more than 1.1 million Americans living with PD and 90,000 new people diagnosed in the U.S. each year.

By working together on our policy priorities at the federal and state levels with policy makers and the PD community, we will improve the lives of people with Parkinson’s and their loved ones. Our aim is to make strides today to change the trajectory of Parkinson’s in the future.

After a Parkinson’s diagnosis, you may decide to share the news with others. Sharing your diagnosis, especially for the first time, can be emotionally heavy. Thinking about what you want to say ahead of time can make it easier to start the conversation.

🩵 We’re here to help: Parkinson.org/living-with-parkinsons/new-to-parkinsons/talk-about-your-diagnosis

At some point, you may decide to share your diagnosis with others. You are in control of that decision — including whether to share, who to tell, when to tell them and how much information to provide.
