Georgia school bus drivers only reply please. I need your assistance. Channel 46 in Atlanta contacted me and wanted to know what systems across the state are doing to help keep students and staff safe. I don’t really know what other systems are doing. That’s where I need your help. What are your system’s guidelines for students riding our buses starting back to school for the 2020-21 school year? Please include your system name. I think we have School bus drivers on here that aren’t necessarily drivers in Georgia. I am open to your comments as well but just please let me know which system you drive for and if you are not a Georgia driver, please say which state you drive for. Thank you all in advance for your assistance. Stay safe and well. Prayers to you all for a great school year.

The planning committee meeting set for Saturday, February 1, 2020, has been moved to Saturday, March 7, 2020. We have had a death in the family and I won’t be able to come. Also, my daddy is in Piedmont with a reaction to meds he took for diverticulitis. We look forward to seeing members in March to plan our summer safety conference. Thank you all for your understanding and prayers.

I believe each system is back in school for the 2019-20 school year. Take a photo of you with your bus with Also hashtag your system if they have one. Prayers for everyone to have a safe year!

Our system has been promoting the idea of having a "Safety Culture" on our buses. How safe do students (and parents who have students on your bus) feel on your bus? What are some things you do on your bus to promote safety?

Please contact your state legislators and let them know you support SB 25, which reverses the law (HB 978) that was put into place last year allowing a vehicle to continue traveling when only a paved median is between lanes (HB 978; Section I). The GSBDA recognized HB 978 to be unsafe, however, it passed and went into effect July 2018. Please let your legislators know that HB 978 needs to be repealed as it has added confusion and more unsafe conditions for the children riding Georgia school buses.

School is about to get under way in Georgia! No time like the present to start making the public aware of this fact. We are striving for 0 (zero) fatalities this year. We also would love to see 0 injuries.

Well, the time is upon us. It is time for the 2017 GSBDA Safety Conference!!! If you are coming, and I have not gotten in touch with you, please bring a picture of your younger self. It could be a childhood photo or one in your high school years. We are going to post these at the conference and see if we can figure out who is who. Also, If you have not registered, it is not too late! Reservations can still be made at the Baymont Inn and suites in Helen Georgia at a base rate of $87. This does not include all taxes and fees.. You can pay conference registration at the door tomorrow afternoon (7/13/17) at the hotel. Conference registration starts at 1 PM until 3 PM. Conference dues are $80 for regular drivers and $75 for retired/honorary members. Honorary members could be spouses, children, or other distinguished attendees. This year's agenda includes an operation lifesaver update, positive behavior supports for bus drivers, and youth mental health awareness. The conference will last until Saturday, July 15, 2017. I think it's going to be a great conference this year. If you have not made plans to come, please plan to do so. We look forward to seeing those that have already registered and those that are going to register! Have a safe trip. See you there!
