Hurricane Melissa has left Western Jamaica reeling, and while the headlines have faded, the recovery has barely begun. This weekend, our team delivered six suitcases filled with thousands of dollars’ worth of essential supplies—LifeStraws, soap, gloves, masks, feminine hygiene products, and more—to rural communities hit hardest and most often overlooked.

It may not look like much from the outside, but every item was chosen with care, purchased because of your generosity, and delivered through the dedication of our volunteers. None of this would have been possible without our donors and supporters. Thank you—from the bottom of our hearts.💜

Communities across Western Jamaica are still feeling the impact of Hurricane Melissa — homes damaged, families displaced, and access to clean water, food, and electricity limited.

For over a decade, Caring Hub has stood beside these overlooked areas, and now, together with the Kurt Douglas Foundation we’re launching the Wave of Hope – Jamaica 2025 initiative to help rebuild, restore, and bring lasting relief.

***WE ARE ON THE GROUND***

The footage of Jamaica following hurricane Melissa is horrifying. And it’s even worse in person.

Caring Hub is HERE. Present and working, just as we have been for the past decade — standing with our communities in Saint Elizabeth and beyond. From hospitals to children’s homes, our mission has always been to show up where it matters most.

Our commitment to caring for the overlooked and underserved still stands. In the wake of this tragedy, we will continue to meet the needs of the districts in forgotten lanes and hilly landscapes. Basic healthcare, food & toiletries, coordination of services for the unexpectedly unhoused are all at the top of our priority list.

For us, this is not just charity work, it’s family work.

Caring Hub, in partnership with the Kurt Douglas Foundation, is preparing to mobilize once roads are cleared and flights resume. Our mission in this phase is to help families, hospitals, and schools rebuild stronger, focusing on critical infrastructure and long-term recovery needs that will continue after the initial emergency response subsides.

We’re coordinating with local partners to ensure our efforts complement ongoing relief work already happening across the island.

Our hearts are breaking as we see the impact Hurricane Melissa has had on the people and communities of Saint Elizabeth.

For over a decade, Caring Hub has been blessed to walk alongside this parish — partnering with its hospitals, clinics, sanitarium, churches, and schools to bring health outreach and hope. Now, many of those same communities are hurting. Homes have been damaged, lives have been disrupted, and recovery will take time and care.

Please know that Caring Hub has not forgotten Saint Elizabeth. We are already connecting with our local partners and gathering information so we can respond effectively. While we’re still in the early stages of mobilizing, our hearts and hands are ready to serve as soon as it’s safe and practical to do so. To our friends, volunteers, and supporters — thank you for standing with us through the years.

Your compassion and prayers mean the world right now. Together, we’ll help Saint Elizabeth rise again.
