K9s in the News: K9 Belle Scores Find #8! 🐾

Kissimmee Police Department's Bloodhound Team recently celebrated another successful missing person recovery thanks to the outstanding work of Officer Andrew Cason and K9 Belle. Responding to a report of a missing individual from a mental health facility, K9 Belle, a scent-discriminate Bloodhound, followed a trail for nearly a mile and safely located the missing person, earning her 8th successful find.

During the search, backup units utilized Ring camera footage to help confirm the accuracy of Belle's trail, demonstrating the effectiveness of combining skilled K9 teams with modern technology.

K9 Belle joined the Kissimmee Police Department in March 2025 and recently celebrated a birthday in April. Since joining the department, she has quickly become a valuable resource in locating missing and vulnerable individuals.

🐾 K9s in the News: Happy Birthday and Great Work, K9 Athena! 🐾

It has been quite a week for K9 Athena of the North Bend Police Department (Oregon)! After recently celebrating her birthday, Athena wasted no time getting back to work and proving why she is such a valuable member of the department.

What began as a routine traffic stop quickly turned into a major narcotics seizure. After officers developed reasonable suspicion of narcotics activity, K9 Athena was deployed and alerted to the vehicle, leading officers to discover:

▪️ 14.1 grams of methamphetamine
▪️ 10 grams of he**in
▪️ 3.6 grams of fentanyl
▪️ Evidence of drug distribution
▪️ Weapons

As a result of the investigation, four suspects were taken into custody.

This case highlights the critical role police K9s play in helping remove dangerous drugs and weapons from our communities. K9 Athena's alert and the teamwork of her handler and assisting officers helped bring this investigation to a successful conclusion.

The DeKalb County Police Department mourns the loss of one of its retired canines, K-9 Narry, who passed away peacefully at home on June 3, 2026.

K-9 Narry proudly served the citizens of DeKalb County from June 2017 through April 2023. His work compiled an outstanding record of service and dedication:

🌴🐾 One Happy Island. One Shared Mission. 🇦🇼

This May, Irondog K9 International was honored to return to Aruba and witness firsthand the dedication, professionalism, and passion of the island’s law enforcement K9 teams.

During our visit, we had the privilege of meeting with Aruba’s Minister of Justice, Arthur Dowers, Aruba Police leadership, K9 trainer and handlers, BOT-K9 handlers serving the Correctional Institute (KIA), and National Politie Inspecteur Dick Van Leenen during a special certification presentation.

One of the highlights of the trip was the official presentation of K9 Carla to her handler, Officer Alvin Leonard. K9 Carla is the third working K9 donated to the island, and we look forward to watching this team serve and protect the people of Aruba.

Over the years, Irondog K9 International has proudly supported Aruba’s K9 programs through K9 donations, protective vests, collars, training opportunities, and continuing education seminars in the United States. Seeing these partnerships grow stronger each year is truly rewarding.

We were also given the opportunity to observe training operations throughout the island, including visits to the city, the BOT-K9 training facility, and even remote locations with the assistance of the Coast Guard.

To our friends and partners in Aruba: thank you for your hospitality, your friendship, and your unwavering commitment to public safety. We are proud to stand beside you as we continue our mission to Equip, Protect, and Train Law Enforcement K9 Teams.
