With four days left until we say goodbye to 2024, we are excited to be almost halfway to our goal of raising $45,000 for the ministry of La Promesa Honduras.

One of our primary areas of service through La Promesa Honduras is accompanying children as they experience the government child protection system in Honduras. Sometimes this means supporting children in orphanages or in foster care with counseling services. Other times this means supporting the caregivers in an orphanage with with training and counseling, providing transition services as children reintegrate with their families of origin, or support services for young mothers and their babies living in children's homes. One of the most important services we provide is supervision and monitoring for fragile children or children whose special circumstances make them more vulnerable than their peers. La Promesa Honduras is so thankful to have a specially trained child and family service team who provides excellent care and support to children involved in the system, as well as their caregivers.

Thank you to so many who have helped us work toward our 2024 year-end goal of raising $45,000 for our work with children and families in Honduras. $18,000 has been raised so far, a great start! Please help us reach our goal with a gift to the La Promesa Honduras general fund. Our day-to-day work represents our desire to serve God’s most vulnerable and at-risk people here in Honduras and our commitment to competent and compassionate care through all of our programs and services.

One program we piloted in 2024, and can’t wait to expand on in 2025, is our Joy Club serving adults with disabilities. One young participant, *Mario, came to his first Joy Club with an angry face, reluctant to participate in the crafts, music, and motor skills activities. By the time we had our Joy Club Christmas party, *Mario sang a solo, took pictures, participated in everything, and had a great smile the whole time.

Tomorrow is . As you consider your year-end giving, we hope you will reflect on this past year with La Promesa Honduras making a charitable contribution toward safe children, strong families, and supportive communities.
La Promesa Honduras has a strong partnership with Manos Felices (Happy Hands) Christian School for Deaf Children, supporting academic goals with tangible support for the students and their families. This means that transportation and academic support throughout the last six years, obstacles for these students, allowed two cousins to receive their ninth-grade basic education diplomas. This means LPH’s Christy Owen teaches all English classes 7th grade and up and additional classes as needed at no additional cost to the school, allowing the school to continue a quality education for Deaf children in Honduras despite economic hardships. This means a single mom receives monthly living and vocational support so that her Deaf child and two other siblings can remain in school. This means students and parents have access to exceptional psychological and social work services through the LPH family services team. This mean LPH mission teams have the joy of interacting with the students and staff and blessing them with school improvement projects which for the 2024 year included murals, new classroom floors and paint, and a remodeled kitchen area. You truly are what makes this partnership possible. Please consider a gift today: www.lapromesahonduras.org/gift

La Promesa Honduras does not have a children’s home, although the number of children needing a safe and loving place to belong often tempts us to build one! We strongly feel the best way we can support children who have been separated from their biological families is by promoting foster care growth in Honduras, helping children and families to reunite when safe and possible, providing support to children in children’s homes, and training and consulting with administrators, caregivers, and others who work within the child welfare community.

This means little A with multiple disabilities living in a children’s home receives monthly visits to make sure he is receiving all the special care he needs and the home receives items like formula, diapers, and even chicken and vegetable for the 30+ children in the home. Additionally, LPH’s technical team provides mentoring and consulting with the staff.

This also means a 60-hour course, “The Competent and Compassionate Professional” has been taught this year by LPH’s Tamara Robinson to equip and support professionals in the child welfare community with the knowledge, skills, and abilities they require to best meet the needs of the children in their care. More qualified professionals equals more accessible and better quality services and care for vulnerable children… an exponential outreach.

This also means providing reintegration services and foster care awareness at every turn, even when the process is slow or difficult. Our day to day work represents our commitment to family-based care and to the belief that children belong in families!

For LPH’s founders this means being that loving foster family, Tamara and Christy in their respective families, each have three children in foster care this year.

All of this means the funds you provide now through and year-end giving is critical for continuing these needed services for His most vulnerable children here in Honduras. Please consider a gift to the LPH General Fund this coming .

As nears, this is an important season for La Promesa Honduras.

Throughout the year, our feet are on the ground full time here in Honduras sharing stories when we can, keeping close to our hearts stories that cannot yet be told, and trusting in God for the provision to continue to do this work. Our work in Honduras is strengthening children, families and communities through competent and compassionate care. Today that means LPH’s Tamara Robinson is driving an hour outside of town to attend the kindergarten graduation of young J who lives in a children’s home. LPH has walked with J for several years of his young life providing intervention, protection, transition services, and continuing with counseling and support. Even a kindergarten graduation seemed unimaginable for this young boy several years ago. Today, we celebrate J and all of his accomplishments and the people on his team.

Yesterday our work meant LPH’s Christy Owen attended the Deaf school’s graduation, cheering on not only the students and families but the teachers and staff who have worked tirelessly to provide a Christ-centered education to Deaf children in Honduras. This week and the next two weeks, our work means our technical team made up of our psychologist, Leana, and our social worker, Ana, are out on the field everyday visiting foster families and children’s homes rounding off the year with small Christmas celebrations, monitoring, and ongoing therapy.

As you consider your charitable giving during this season, we invite you to join with La Promesa Honduras in His work in Honduras building bridges between tragedy and hope for those who are most vulnerable and at-risk. Our work here is not possible without your partnership. Please consider a gift to the LPH General Fund this coming .
