In conjunction with Cabbagetown '76, which opens this weekend at the Cabbagetown Community Center and runs until the end of August, Doug DeLoach introduces and discusses the exhibit on his podcast. It includes some snippets of an interview with The Patch Works' Jacob and Nina Elsas. Very cool! Thanks, Doug!

Presented by the Chunklet Music Preservation Project in partnership with The Patch Works Art & History Center, Cabbagetown '76 brings photojournalist Barbara McKenzie’s work back to the neighborhood where it was created. Hosted at the Cabbagetown Community Center, the show opens to the public on July 31 and runs through August 30, free of charge.

Visitors can view the exhibition by appointment (depending on the Community Center's availability) or on Fridays (4:00–8:00 pm) and most Saturdays and Sundays (12:00–4:00 pm), with Nina and Jacob Elsas on hand to welcome guests.*

A specially curated opening weekend (July 24–26), already sold out, features performances by celebrated Cabbagetown musicians Kelly Hogan, Bill Taft, and Chris Lopez, underscoring the exhibition’s deep local roots.

More than an exhibition, Cabbagetown ’76 is a celebration—of community, memory, and the enduring power of photography.

*Schedule subject to change; visitors are encouraged to confirm viewing times by contacting The Patch Works at [email protected] or by referring to our online calendar: https://thepatchworks.org/events/

This historic event is the time for ALL Cabbagetown residents – past and present – to gather and see old friends, make new friends, listen to live music, play games, and just enjoy the community. It’s a celebration of what truly defines Cabbagetown: the people themselves. For over 50 years, The Cabbagetown Reunion Day Festival has been an uninterrupted annual display of Cabbagetown’s love for its people. And don’t forget that friends and family are always welcome to join the fun! .e.hartley
