Dr. Gregory Wu of Emerson Dental in Massachusetts, was among the dental professionals who came to Atlanta for Hinman, and he highlighted two things the Meeting makes possible.

The first is visibility. Hinman brings a wide range of companies under one roof, and for a practice like Emerson Dental that means a chance to put its name out there. The second is people. Dr. Wu was excited to reconnect with classmates, friends and colleagues who share the profession and the same building for three days.

Harlee left the Thomas P. Hinman Dental Meeting with new information, new connections and a wider view of dentistry.

Tom Viola has spent his career speaking to rooms across dentistry, so when he calls the Hinman audience a breed apart, that's not casual praise.

His point wasn't about the size of the room or the reputation of the stage. It was about what happens once the microphone turns on, people who lean in, ask real questions and stay engaged the whole way through. According to him, that's rarer than it sounds.

The room you sit in shapes what you get out of three days as much as who's speaking.

If you're not at Hinman, check yourself.

Dr. Bostic's case for showing up comes down to a few things that are easy to say and harder to actually do. Getting better at your craft doesn't happen passively, it takes deliberately putting yourself in a room built for it. Bringing your team matters just as much as bringing yourself, because they hear the same sessions, ask their own questions, and walk away with the same understanding you do, instead of getting a secondhand version from you weeks later. And being involved in the dental community isn't a box to check once a year, it's how you stay connected to people doing the exact same work you are, facing the exact same challenges.
