Atlanta Industrial Workers of the World

Atlanta Industrial Workers of the World Atlanta, Ga General Membership Branch of the Industrial Workers of the World, (I.W.W). Sometimes it means striking or signing a contract. Why wait?

The IWW is a member-run union for all workers, a union dedicated to organizing for power and freedom in our workplaces and in our communities. You can also check out our affiliated projects, the Atlanta General Defense Committee (www.facebook.com/AtlantaGDC/) and A World Without Police (www.facebook.com/AWorldWithoutPolice/). IWW members are organizing to win better conditions today and build a wo

rld with economic democracy tomorrow. We want our workplaces run for the benefit of workers and communities rather than for a handful of bosses and executives. We are the Industrial Workers of the World because we organize industrially. This means we organize all workers producing the same goods or providing the same services into one union, rather than dividing workers by skill or trade This allows for us to pool our strength together to win our demands. Since the IWW was founded in 1905, we have made significant contributions to the labor struggles around the world and have a proud tradition of organizing across gender, ethnic and racial lines long before such organizing was popular. We invite you to become a member whether or not the IWW happens to have representation rights in your workplace. We organize the worker, not the job, and recognize that unions are not about government certification or employer recognition but about workers coming together to address common concerns. Sometimes this means refusing to work with dangerous equipment and chemicals. Other times it mean agitating around particular issues or grievances in a workplace or industry. The IWW is a democratic, member-run union. That means members decide what issues to address, and which tactics to use and we directly vote on office holders, from stewards to national offices. Join the IWW and organize for a better future.

Radical economic theory is simply replacing the needs of profit as the number one priority of a population, with the needs of the people in that population.

We will never be truly free until we excise the lie that our workplace and our government are not, and will always not be, connected.
So we can either allow workplaces to exist in a state of authoritarian oligarchy, which with its insestual relationship with government, will push representation to move farther away from the voter and closer to authoritarianism to align with the economy. Votes count, but I have one and Jeff Bezos has billions.
Or.
We democratize the workplace and allow that to influence the government into itself being a more direct representation of the people it serves.

Our government is a reflection of its electorate, and we see who the electorate is curently...the economic oligarchs who fund the lives of shallow narcissistic grifters.
We must change the bottom and work our way up.

Positive worker affirmation of the day.

"As a worker, my duty in a capitalist system is to do the least work for the highest compensation. This is the only way to truly operate in a system of extraction. It is either extract or extracted. I choose to extract the glut of capital and disperse it more evenly in our class until every worker is compensated for every cent of their production under no threat of starvation or deprivation."

Every victory should be broadcast! We workers must remember we win when we stand up and make them respond to us. Money is the language of capital, so until we move past our current system, we must speak the language of our oppressors and extract every cent of all that has been stolen.
