💜 Maternal Mental Health Matters 💜

Motherhood can be beautiful but it can also be overwhelming, exhausting, and isolating. For survivors of domestic violence, those challenges can be even heavier.

Abuse doesn’t just impact physical safety. It affects emotional well-being, confidence, and mental health during pregnancy and beyond.

At Haven House, we stand with mothers who may be silently struggling. You deserve to feel safe, supported, and heard every step of your journey.

If you or someone you know needs help, we’re here.

💙 April is Child Abuse Prevention Month 💙

At Haven House, we know that supporting survivors of domestic violence means protecting children, too. When families have access to safety, support, and resources, children have the chance to heal, grow, and thrive.

Every child deserves a safe, stable, and nurturing environment.

Everyone deserves relationships built on respect, safety, and choice. We’re sharing this resource from the National Domestic Violence Hotline to help educate our community about consent and recognizing coercion. If you need support, Haven House is here. 💜

"The recent two horrific domestic violence incidents that involved the deaths of multiple people, including children, illustrate what we at the National Domestic Violence Hotline know to be true. According to researchers, when an abuser has access to a firearm in a domestic violence situation, the risk of homicide rises by 500%.*

Last year alone, threats involving fi****ms were among the most common abuse tactics reported by survivors who contacted The Hotline. Yet for every person who reaches out, there are countless others who suffer in silence and may never have the chance to seek help.

Ten million people experience domestic violence every year. Each of those people should be supported, and those who choose to cause harm should be held accountable — regardless of who they are.

Instead of asking, "Why doesn't the victim just leave?" we need to shift the conversation to "Why doesn't the abusive person just stop?" Survivors have carried the burden to free themselves from violence for far too long."

It’s common to hear people ask, “Why didn’t they leave?” or “Why didn’t they say something?”
The truth is, it’s not that simple. Every survivor’s situation is different, and safety, fear, and control all play a role.
Let’s shift the focus from questioning survivors to supporting them. 💜
