The Atlanta Music Project is proud to celebrate 14 outstanding AMP Academy students who have earned invitations to perform in the 2026 Georgia Music Educators Association (GMEA) honor ensembles, one of the highest distinctions for student musicians in Georgia. ๐ŸŽถ

Chosen from 20,000+ students who audition across the state each year, fewer than 15% are selected after completing two rigorous live auditions.

Their achievement reflects the dedication, discipline, and artistry they bring to their music every day, and the incredible support of AMP teaching artists, families, and community members who help make their journeys possible.

Through the AMP Academy, our advanced private lesson program, students receive intensive training including weekly one-on-one lessons, solo recitals, masterclasses, and adjudicated performance exams that prepare them to reach their highest potential.

We are so proud of these young musicians and grateful to the supporters who make opportunities like this possible.

The grand finale of our 2026 AMP Music of the African Diaspora Festival was a spectacular AMP Youth Orchestras Concert held at the beautiful Church at Wieuca.

The evening opened with the AMP Junior Youth Orchestra I Winds, setting the tone with a powerful and inspiring performance of a Swahili Folk Hymn, followed by the timeless Moon Indigo by Duke Ellington. Their vibrant sound created the perfect start to a night celebrating the rich musical traditions of the African diaspora.

Continuing the momentum, the AMP Junior Youth Orchestra II Winds delivered an energetic performance of Ijo Ajoyo by Duroje Guwana, bringing rhythm and excitement to the stage.

The program then shifted into a more reflective moment as the AMP Junior Youth Orchestra Flutes performed the deeply soulful spiritual Go Down, Moses, filling the space with warmth and emotion.

Next, the AMP Junior Youth Orchestra I Strings took the stage, delighting the audience with Cat & Mouse by Adrian Gordon and Great Time A Cominโ€™ by William Owens. Their performance showcased both playful energy and rich musical storytelling.

Rounding out our junior ensembles, the AMP Junior Youth Orchestra II delivered an engaging performance that captivated the audience and highlighted the incredible dedication of our young musicians.

The evening continued with the bold and brilliant sounds of the AMP Senior Youth Orchestra Brass, before the night culminated in a powerful closing performance by the AMP Senior Youth Orchestra, bringing the festival to an unforgettable finish.

What a way to close the season! The 2026 AMP Music of the African Diaspora Festival was a tremendous success, and it was truly inspiring to see so many students, faculty, staff, families, and supporters come together in celebration of AMP and the incredible work of our young artists.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this festival such a meaningful and memorable experience. We loved seeing our entire community show up and show out in support of AMP!

This past Saturday, our AMP Youth Choirs started the day with nothing but joyous music and voices all around! Starting the concert with sweet, delicate voices, our youngest vocalists with the AMP 1st-3rd Preparatory Choir, followed by the AMP 4th-5th Preparatory Choir. The dedication and hard work from our preparatory students shows a strong and promising future for AMP.

Following after was our AMP Junior Youth Choir, which showcased the variety of vocal talented and range through the ensemble, as well as getting the audience hyped and immersed with their performance.

Rounding out the concert was the AMP Senior Choir, which was under the direction of guest conductor, ! The mature sound and musicality from our Senior Youth Choir truly demonstrated the passion and artistry behind everything that we do and stand for at AMP.

But before we could fully conclude the concert, all choirs came together as we made the AMP Combine Choirs and closed the concert with the powerful piece of

This past Friday, our After-School Orchestras program performed at the AMP Center for a fun and exciting crowd! As some of our youngest musicians, it was a delight to witness these musicians perform and enjoy their time on the stage!

These young musicians stem from three ensembles with our Perkerson Park Violins, South Bend Center Winds, and the South Bend Center General Music & Choir, all in partnership with the City of Atlanta Department of Parks and Recreation.

We are so proud of the hard work these young musicians have demonstrated. The future is bright here at the Atlanta Music Project!

This past Thursday, we had the honor of hosting our guest artist, Michele Fowlin, as we began the weekend with an AMP Voice Masterclass. Michele Fowlin worked one-on-one with AMP students Ildiko Binecz, Camille Childers, and Joshua Banks, three talented vocalists from our AMP Academy!

This was a rare opportunity to witness a master artist sharing their craft and knowledge with the next generation of singers.

The AMP Voice Masterclass was full of talent, knowledge, fun, and and overall wonderful experience for our AMP students and those in attendance.
