From Rev. Nancy:

My minister’s videos this week:

Here, we’re living these questions: Where are you *already* being courageous but maybe not quite giving yourself credit for it? And—like starlings who rely on their neighbors to stay in sync in a “murmuration”—who and what help you to open your heart to our biggest challenges?

In the first comment, you’ll find my invitations to join the sweet and strengthening events at UUCG this weekend: Saturday’s Blessing of the Animals, and Sunday’s worship service!

Whatever you turn toward this weekend, may you know that your presence is a blessing in itself. Surrounding you with Love!

From Rev. Nancy:

Here are my minister’s videos for this week!

Big questions, big wrestling going on this week—probably right up through the moments I’m in the pulpit tomorrow! Y’all come, if you can!

1. Sitting with Other’s Pain—and Learning What’s Ours to Do
Why is it so hard for some of us to sit the pain others are experiencing? Is it about a sense of powerlessness, a kind of fear, our own traumas? Yet real life and love lie along the path of empathy, curiosity (as an aridity to fear), and connection. The capacity to hold both/and—that’s what I want us to keep growing.

2. (In the comments!) Worship in Sunday, October 4 at 11:00 am ET with UUCG:
Courage in the Face of Uncertainty

Please Watch—and then come join the conversation online or in person!

I love you!

From Rev. Nancy:

My minister’s videos this week:

1. On Mortality: What We Lose and What Remains

I’m feeling my way here through the weightiness and grief of losing so many people recently whom we love and admire (both the famous folx and the losses so close to home)—and through the wave of body and heart memories of all our other losses which these recent deaths bring up. How can we turn toward sensing and weaving their energy—which remains in some form! through their teachings, their work, their examples of how to live—into our own lives?

2. In the first comment: This Labor Day Weekend at UUCG! Beginnings!

The monthly grounds-spruce-up party at 10:00 on Saturday and the awesome CUUPS Meet and Greet Party Saturday at 3:00 spark fun and purpose. And Sunday’s worship service at 11:00, “From the Beginning,” takes us on a journey through origin stories from many sources—how did we humans come to be, after all?

Please join us! And may your Labor Day honor your own work and that of all those who provide the essential services we need to survive.

From Rev. Nancy:

Friends! I almost forgot to post this week’s minister videos!

1. The question: what is something you have learned that you still hold onto? Even if your perspective has grown and changed, do you still feel gratitude for that original moment of learning? I had some cool moments this week when old learnings suddenly reappeared like long-lost friends.

2. Posted in comments: Tomorrow at UUCG: The sweetness of a very tangible service, and then two workshops from which you’ll take treasures home! Please listen to this message and join us tomorrow!

There was a mistake in today's eNews. It was indicated that the UUCG Covenant Choir was returning to rehearsals next week. They will continue to be on hiatus, however, until the search for a choir director is completed. We apologize for this confusion.

From Rev. Nancy, post 2 of 2 this Sunday morning, July 26:

Friendships, Community—and Letting Go and Holding On

These days I’m really cherishing the lasting impact of all the relationships we build, when they have intention and care as part of their roots—even when Life moves us on in different directions or there are long breaks. I feel the same way about relationships built with care and commitment in community. They are … eternal!

How about you? What’s your experience with the way relationships remain in our lives, even when life has moved us on from our physical presence with each other?

From Rev. Nancy, Post 1 of 2 this Sunday morning, July 26:

As we wrap up this month on our theme of “Letting Go and Holding On” (and get ready to flip it on its head for next month, emphasizing the Holding On), please do join us for worship this morning at 11:00 am EDT, online or in person at UUCG!

“Flipping a Coin or Taking a Side”:

Where do you fall on the scale of people who want to hold onto EVERYTHING—relationships, experiences, objects—and people who let go and move on quickly? We need to be able to do both, right? Please join us for worship today to figure out where you want to put your love this year!

From Rev. Nancy, Post 2 of 2:

Good Saturday morning, beloveds!

Here are my minister’s videos this week, offered humbly in two consecutive posts as an expression of these days we are sharing …

The deeper reflection is an invitation to sit together in a moment I’ve titled “Holding a Moment of Sorrow — Holding the Essence of What Carries Us Through” …

And this video inviting everyone to tomorrow’s worship service simply bears the title of the service itself: “The Dreams We Can Release,
The Essence We Will Hold.”

May something here help you to feel more closely bound in community! And you are most welcome to join us tomorrow for worship at UUCG or online at 11:00 am EDT. You will find the link on our website.

From Rev. Nancy:

My minister’s videos this week:

1. Reflections on the grief of Monday’s mass shooting at the Islamic Center of San Diego, with gentle thoughts on how we push back against the tide of hatred and violence aimed at so many groups—neighbors all. Can we connect at the heart—cutting through distractions (including—sigh!—the mysterious buzz that runs through much of this video)?

2. (In the comments) Tomorrow at UUCG—do come for worship with us at 11:00 EDR, in person or online, and stay afterward for the Green Space Nature Activity, or the Good Trouble gathering, or for the sheer joy of companionship in Social Hour!
